So
Deli Alli Chases Antonia Valenica near to his own ( United) corner flag, Quite normal bit of bumping and boring from behind ensues by the Spurs player, this results in Valencia trying to shield the ball but fails, - pathetically diving to the floor whilst watching the ref - thinking he'd earned the now obligatory free kick.
But hey a moments pause and, play goes on - a moments pause and Alli manages to tap the ball under Valencia and moves off in field along the dead ball line and, is ever so slightly obstructed by the floored United player - and of course, goes down like the proverbial 'sack of spuds' hit by a sledgehammer.
Whistle is blown and its rather pathetic free kick given to Spurs in a quite dangerous position actually
But, wait a minute !! - a veritable posse of Spurs players ( including that fine sportsman and media darling, Harry Kane) surround the more central ref (anthony Taylor) , urgently reminding him that Valencia had been booked
earlier ( apparantly)
and , red card should be produced for the United Player. (classy eh ?)
But - to no avail
and that dear friends after starting to go watch football in 1970 - taking games in every year come what may
is exactly the reason why I am taking a break for a while
pathetic is not the word
that incident just sums the whole thing up
and, not a word from the pundits
just the cheating diving cowardly - normalized now , 'win all costs' mentality of a bunch of fucking mercenaries -
aided and abetted by either blind or bent, match officials
they can all therefore - go and fuck themselves !!!

I find football increasingly difficult to watch. The game has gone but I don’t understand why refs can’t see through it.
Why in some games does every single bit of contact equal a free kick yet in others you can go through someone and its play on?
Alli is just a joke. Down right embarassment with his incessant diving.

Players cheat because refs allow it, all mayeys and chummy (In my opinion) Refs are corrupt Noticed Oliver running out with Hart laughing joking all mates together, never have i seen them doing this with a Stoke player As i say (In my opinion) Cheats (Players) Corrupt (Refs) Until Refs are accountable and have to explain their increasingly frustrating/bizarre decisions there will be no transparencey

Excellent post. One of the reasons perhaps being in the Championship won’t be so bad. It does seem a lot more like proper football played on a pretty level playing field with some real sleeping giants Leeds, Forest, Sheff Wed, Villa, Brum rather than the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton, Watford, Palace.

I've been resigned to relegation for a few months now as it's been a slow, lingering, constant and seemingly inevitable decline. Yes it was great to bloody the nose of some of the "big boys" but overall it's just been an annual battle to firstly ensure our survival and then hopefully finish as high as possible, with a cup run now and again.
The big club bias from the refs and the media is really sickening and I won't miss being on the receiving end of Twatkinson, Oliver, Dean and Co's blatant bias. The inconsistency in decision making is atrocious and nearly always favours the top 6 clubs. The old song "if he played for Stoke you'd send him off" is certainly well founded having seen the referees "performances" against our club, and others of similar status,.
The Championship should give us hope that we can win games and have a promotion challenge but as has been said it's a very, very competitive league. I just hope that the Coates's do already have a plan in place and that the big changes required on and off the pitch start straight after the end of the season. Sadly I just think they will allow the current malaise to continue and we'll become just another Norwich, Ipswich, Bolton, Birmingham, Forest, etc. I hope we get dealt with more fairly and consistently by the referees.

Didn't Dele Alli deliberately stamp on Lingard's Achilles in the second half as well? can't believe nothing has been made of that challenge either, he's a proper scumbag.

I couldn't agree more. I complain more and more about it these days, much more than focusing on anything positive either in the game or off the field, it pretty much stinks. It is openly corrupt, not even discrete about it, and as a sport has to be up there with some of the worst for "fair play", it runs so deep even the kids get drawn into it. I don't want my daughter brought up thinking this sport is any way important or inducative of life or hope of any kind, it's just not (or shouldn't be, the prior)

The Valencia challenge was no different than the adam challenge against Everton.
The whole game, the sport of football stinks. Teeming with cheating, bias and corruption

Unless you accept that players dive, cheat and constantly whinge as it’s part of the game. Unless you accept that managers have to have a foreign accent and talk hours of tactical and philosophical genius in press conferences. Unless you accept the standard of football has never been as good as it is now. I’m afraid you are classed as a dinosaur.

Anthony Taylor was screwed yesterday from the off. The usual bias towards the "bigger" club wasn't possible yesterday because they were both "big clubs". The poor Refs this season have nearly been as poor as our performances. I've had a season ticket for longer than I care to remember (going back to the Alan Durban era) but never have I witnessed such biased, cowardly incompetent officials. This next season could well be my last watching football....I'm totally fed up up of the whole circus.

And the people who administer to football at the highest level, would do well to take note of threads such as this
seems there are lots of us 'dinosaurs' about
My guess would be:- the number of disaffected honest folk wanting to watch a 'clean more honest sport' is increasing.
Yes, there's always been an element of cheating and diving (I remember Francis Lee) but this is now - ridiculous
its a parody of the game i used to play as a kid
And remember that word we once knew - 'sportsmanship' ?
respecting the game - respecting your opponent - to win or lose through honest endeavour ? wanting to be fair in all things ?
its gone - completely
so I will keep my hands in my pockets - not pay out for anything remotely to do with the sport - even the TV subscriptions,
until, we get our game back

I’m an argumentative bastard, but Conna disagree with any of your sentiments. The game I loved had been taken away I’m afraid.

These are particularly nasty and cowardly offences in my book, and often are deliberate and done to cause injury. I saw two of these done in that match and and both warranted red cards!

You could tell he meant it. Let's be honest, Lingard is Alli's direct rival to get in the England team.
