Always good to see northern clubs back in the league. The thing is cluttered with southern commuter towns !

Chuffed for them. Managed to win it without having a pot to piss in.
Closer to me than Stoke. May take in a few games next season.
Be good to stand on terracing again.

Fair achievement, they don't have a big budget at all and were struggling to pay their players a few months back.

I was reading the other week they have one of the smallest budgets in the league many players have full time jobs besides the footy yet john askey has created a team of players who would run through a brick wall for one another. fantastic achievement macc lads

I think on Final Score they also said that they won with the smallest budget in the league, so it's an even bigger achievement.

I remember playing them at their place in a midweek league 1 fixture and a Stoke fan falling off the roof of the little refreshment building they had there. Not sure why he was up there and can't remember the score or any of the football but that sticks in my mind! Surreal at times watching Stoke.

Remember going there in the 90s and it being snowed off. Loads of Stoke hit Macc town centre for an afternoon on the piss.
Is John Askey still there? He is a Stoke fan though his dad played for vale

I have watched Macc play quite a lot this season. I went to Eastleigh. yesterday. What a fantastic day out. Over 400 macc fans made the trip for a 12.30 kick off. Unfortunately I get the feeling I will come down with a bump this afternoon at Burnley. Can we do it on a warm, thundery afternoon at Burnley - probably not. John Askey's post match interview Askey played for Macc for 19 years and after first walking into Moss Rose in 1984 he’s not been able to drag himself away since. “It’s a great achievement, but the biggest achievement is that we still have a club to take into League Two,” he told us after the full-time whistle confirmed their return to the 92. “So many people worked so hard, day and night. We didn’t think this day would come. This is for the people who kept the club going, the supporters, the sponsors and the town. The players have done everyone proud, this is for all of them. “I didn’t think it was possible. You don’t even think about it really, you just try and get things ready for the season and see what happens. “It gives everybody hope. To do what this set of players have done, thrown together in the summer when we only had three players signed. It shows that anybody can do it." Asked to sum up how it feels, Askey wasn’t actually sure how to digest the day! “It’s just pure elation,” he said. “I’m still trying to take it in and I don’t really know how I feel! Every player I have had has supported me. “It’s my greatest achievement, especially in management. It’s a great day for the club and to do this when the odds were stacked against us is something we should always remember.” Macclesfield will get their hands of the trophy at home to Dagenham & Redbridge next Saturday. Manager of the season. Yes for sure!

I was born there and go when I can . Askey who is a Stokie deserves manager of the year . Each season he has to build a new squad because the richer clubs in that league take his better players . They got to the FA Trophy final last season and in July he had 3 players signed for this season . In a physical league they always play progressive passing football too . As good an achievement as any in football this season.
