I am personally meeting the above tomorrow night prior to attending an evening of questions and answers with them.
I have been wracking my brains for a couple of good original questions I could ask without sounding like a first class knob or asking something they have been asked a 1000 times before. I'm struggling big time.
Something Stoke related would be good as they both played for us.
Can any of you fine chaps help me out with a few suggestions?
Sorry to be a gratuitous names dropper, which it must seem like, but genuinely excited to be meeting 2 legends of the game, and as they are both knocking on a bit it may well be the last time I will get the opportunity.
Thanks all.

Thanks all. Ask them if they ever discussed the penalty that Banks saved from Hurst in the League Cup semi-final, and if Hurst ever got any banter for it?

Ask Geoff... was he shitting it when Zidane scored 2 goals in a world cup final?
Ask Geoff.... was he shitting it when Kempes scored 2 goals in a world cup final?
Ask Geoff... was he shitting it when Ronaldo scored 2 goals in a world cup final?

Not easy is it, 2 legends of the world game.
I suppose what bonds them is the 66 World Cup win and what might divide them is the Banks penalty save from Hurst in the 72 Stoke League Cup winning year. But they will have been asked about both a million times.
Other legends of the day in an amusing way...Pele's erectile dysfunction and subsequent viagra ad, Bobby Charlton's dodgy flip over hair cut...
Can Hurst pull any strings at WHU to "gift" Stoke the relegation match at the London Stadium on Monday on the premise we need the points even more than them? But what could we offer by way of reciprocation?

had dinner with Sir Geoff before Xmas He considers the penalty save better than the one vs Brazil I think he is probably right. I have a picture of the save on the wall in my living room. It is probably the best save I have seen live.

Love the thumbnail of that video, really conveys how muxh that war of Semi Final meant to both clubs. Always makes me laugh when players complain about fatigue these days.

It is probably the best save I have seen live. Ever the cynic, I can't help thinking that because it was against him, Sir Geoff is managing his own PR. It was a great save though and got us to Old Trafford (after Hillsborough of course) and I was there to witness it.

had dinner with Sir Geoff before Xmas He considers the penalty save better than the one vs Brazil By a country mile in my book. The save v Pele was good, but in the terminology of the day, I've never really understood what the fuss was about. The penalty save was out of this world. Hurst blasts it and Banks dives too far to one side, yet still manages to twist and get a fist to it. Speed, agility and power. That's why he's still the benchmark when people talk about the best goalkeeper ever.

What would be interesting is to find out what it was that drew him to Stoke and away from London. I always thought he joined us later than '72 actually so it came as a surprise to read on Wiki that he was with us for three and not two seasons.

Brilliant guys thank you. Plenty of stuff there to cobble together something. Pele's Erectile Dysfunction has gotta be the way forward.

But what could we offer by way of reciprocation? The massed ranks of the stoke choir singing “ Our eternal gratitude to West Ham United, the only club to win the World Cup”? That should be reward enough.

Please add me to these sentiments. Ta. A question you could ask them. How do they both feel when they see players who are not fit to wear their boots earning so much dosh that's it's obscene? OS.

He was actually born in Ashton Under Lyme so may well have had family connections up that way (total guess that btw)

Ask them who we were missing to win the League title in 1974-75. Only four points behind Derby, who would have made that crucial difference to make us League Champions for the first time?
