Will be leaving A.Madrid in the summer. Just what we have needed for years? Would a 6 month loan inJanuary have been out of the question? Perhaps we really didn't try hard enough.

Lost his main asset(yard of pace)when injured at Liverpool, Chelsea didn't get what they thought they were getting? Without that pace he was nothing special, slowly declined further at Athl Mad and now they want to get a big wage earner off the books. Would be an expensive terrible buy for Stoke?

Do people want us to keep repeating the same mistakes He'd be a damned better player than anything we have now except Shaq. How would he ? His last stint in the premier league playing for a much better team than us returned 5 league goals. He then managed even worse the season after scoring 4 league goals between Italy & Spanish leagues. And this season he has a huge 2 league goals playing for the mighty A.Madrid

Do you think after the career he’s had and teams he’s played for he’s what we need to be battling our way out of the championship. We need a base of hungry players on their way up not has beens on their way down .

Athletico's fourth team are probably better than our first X1 .

Since 2010-11, he's got into double figures just once whilst playing in leagues that realistically comprise of about 3 teams of any decent standard. Yet another "Michael Owen was world class once" buy, based solely on his name rather than on anything he's produced on the pitch for years......

There's a lot more teams in La Liga better than we are than three I know that much! If Torres is playing for us it doesn't matter if those La Liga teams he fails to score against are better than us, what matters is if they're better than everyone else in the Prem as it's them he'd need to score against....the vast majority simply aren't even close to Prem level. Don't you think there's a reason that he's left on the bench most of the time the last few years even when most of the teams they're playing against are gash? He couldn't score in the Prem where he had players miles better than ours around him who could provide for him and he's barely been able to score in La Liga or Serie A for years. It's not 2012 anymore mate. Who next, shall we ask Thierry Henry if he fancies a game?

Apparently this recording was picked up in a shady tabloid operation in the Torres household a couple of days ago:
Senora T: Hello love. Nice day at work?
Fernando: Evening, sweetheart. Brilliant. I have some news.
ST (Clapping hands and jumping up and down on the spot) Oooohhh, tell me, tell me! Have you bought me a present? A new car? Dress? Eternity ring? Perfume?
F: I've got a new job.
ST: (slightly disappointed, but putting on a brave face) That's great, Nando. Is it sitting next to that nice Alan Shearer on Saturday nights, wearing identikit shiny shirts, and making anodyne and blindingly obvious comments about former colleagues?
F: Noo-oo. Much better. I've got a contract with a new club!
ST: Well I know it's probably not Real or Barcelona, sweetie. Once upon a time - but not now. But perhaps Sevilla?
F: Bit futher afield, love.
ST: OK. Must be somewhere like Milan? Or Lyon is lovely - lots of wonderful restaurants. And I know Marseille is nice - except when England are playing Russia, that is.
F: Er no love. Think beyond the EU.
ST: Oh goody - it's Spurs! Really handy for the shopping! Even West Ham would be great! Anywhere in London, really!
F: Not London, love.
ST: (Now with bottom lop quivering). Oh. We're going back to Liverpool? Or I suppose Newcastle or Everton are massive clubs with forlorn aspirations of breaking the stranglehold of the big 5. Or is it the big 6 now? Even the championship might not be the end of the world - hasn't Leeds got a Harvey Nicks?
F: (shuffling his feet and looking veeerrrrry sheepish). Er, no love. It's Stoke. It's a lovely place. Hanley has some....shops. Paul Lambert's coming over for dinner with his wife on Friday. Don't worry, he is bringing his own translator - his English is improving.
[Door slams, followed by wind whistling through house. Lights go down on Fernando, as he is engulfed in tumbleweed].

It’s this sort of thing that makes me so sad about our situation
I had thought (hoped) that the memories of signing Patrick Berger on loan, who was perhaps just about our biggest name for years, we would continue to look back fondly at where have come From and where we are now.
Now that is reality again, maybe if we are very lucky the odd Premiwr League player who is way past to help us dream of bigger and better things rather than it being the norm to be in the mix for players such as Shaq, Bojan etc
Those were great times by i for one don’t want to go back to them and be forced to live in hope rather than expectation. It’s a travesty how it has come to this.

Yes this squad is absolutely crying out for an injury prone unfit has been who wouldn't be arsed to apply himself at away games in the Championship. I sometimes wonder if a lot of people on this board have actually watched any football for the last 5 years?? What we want is the right type of characters ( i.e. with drive and ambition) on the way up not wankers on a very steep decline who'd want silly wages. This board is adding to my general depression about our situation ................if you can't suggest something interesting/sensible/useful then don't bother.
