How sure are we that it's Kitson? It's Kitson... In the article it says he was playing as late as 2011, but Kitson was still playing (for Oxford United) in 2014. Of course, it's true to say he was playing as late as 2011, but the implication is that the Secret Footballer retired in 2011. Or is all of that a red herring? I personally have no idea.

Can't be Kitson as it mentions a footballer. This is one for Davesviews.

Would Kitson really book the top floor of a hotel out of spite?

The way he waved his leg in an attempt to score a goal was surely a clear sign that we all missed. That and the missing half time oranges.

I would guess that a number of people related to our club would be at the front of the lawsuit queue.
I thought that his anonymised story about Begovic was particularly spiteful, because he knew that everybody with half an interest in Stoke would know exactly what he was referring to. Hiding behind the veil of anonymity to have a pop at our owners with an account that bore little relation to reality was very poor.

Apparently he's been close to killing himself and all sorts. It's no laughing matter but under the veil of anonymity why would you even mention it unless you were attention seeking?
'buy my book, buy my book'
He knows naff all about naff all and anyone who finds his books interesting or even purposeful are only adding to his delusions.

Ahhh...the classic excuse from years ago, and still worth it! I blame Kitson! One in a long line of recent bank breakers that have turned out to be duds. After this season they'll be the only types we'll attract, cause no decent players would trust Stoke with their career. We've scored a massive own goal...

It's the blameless one all day long
But he (or his people) have always had the get out clause of artistic licence, and it's well known that it's largely one player but with several others experiences incorporated into his first person narrative for creative reasons

What did 'he' say about Begovic? Without remembering the exact details, it was something like this: He said that he once played for a club whose upcoming young goalkeeper had secured a move to a top team and was due to have a medical. He said that the club found out before a League Cup game against a lower league team, and so dropped the goalkeeper and manufactured a story about him saying his head wasn't right. The big club didn't want a mentally weak goalkeeper, so they pulled out and the player stayed on the bench at his original club. I can't find it now, but there was quite a big thread at the time. Again, i missed the thread as well

Can't be Kitson as it mentions a footballer. This is one for Davesviews. It would be Kitson's style (if you could say he had one of those with us), snidey twat in the corner, but if 2011's right it does seem to rule him out - were Oxford still in the league in 2014 tho, would non-league count?

It's definitely Kitson, he's been identified from numerous stories he related.
Of course, he may be embellishing others for dramatic effect, it's a book, who wouldn't? Or using stories told to him by other footballers to add colour or disguise himself.
But it's definitely Kitson.

In one of the books he talks about a small fine he got for having a good at a referee over a red card for one of his team mates. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/24991622He also mentions how he left the same club when an old manager appeared in the summer, and how they fell out at the former club as the manager preached loyalty before moving on to another club soon after. Michael Appleton moved to Oxford just before he left, managed him at Pompey before moving to Blackpool.

How could the club have been unaware that one of their players was due to have a medical elsewhere? That’s not how it works.
