For me, the final straw, the last throw of the dice. Just over a week away, for me we were gone when we lost to Everton, for some when its still mathematically possible there is still a chance of surviving.
One point keep us in touching distance of the pack - assuming other results go our way (with a hard run of games coming up for us)
A win for sure gets us back in it (providing results go our way again) and i think should be beat west ham we may pull off the miracle escape
A loss for me is pretty much us mathematically relegated. I can't see where the next goal comes from let alone win. Arnie will also be out to secure there safety but relegate us as well.
I'm not even sure how i would set up for this game either. We've been shafted by Hughes so badly the only consolation is seeing them come down with us as well should the inevitable happen.

If Palace, Swansea and Huddersfield all win (unlikely but possible) we will be 7 points from safety by the time we play Wet Sham. In that scenario we will need a win just to stand still. A defeat will in all reality relegate us no matter the other 3 results.

Can’t see that mate - If we beat West Ham, we would be 4 points behind, technically 5 because of GD. Then I see them drawing at Leicester and beating Everton at home.. ..meaning we would need to get an additional 9 points ! You fancy us to beat West Ham, Burnley, Palace & Swansea?

Hellu!
I've said it all the time: We need 40 points - especially with our bad goal diff.
There's still a chance. We can do it.

I think possibly more by accident than design, Lambert has finally found his best eleven and formation and I don't think he will make any changes for the West Ham game, unless possibly if Staffy is fit.

I agree.. although we still have no goals in us.. and a draw isn't good enough. "To win you need to score" (Michael Owen, 2017)

I would be tempted to start with Campbell, shift Diouf our wide right with Bauer at right back and Shaq central. I think Diouf is far better on the right and he’ll help out dfensively against the snake.

Your welcome , and we’ll be the first to see the light again 👍z Come on mate stop taking the drugs. Lambert has done ok since taken over. This is Hughes' mess Honestly on what basis has he done ok, 1 win worst run of home defeats , worsening goal difference , not won In 8 , it’s an absolute car crash of an appointment , by the time we take the field at Swansea I suspect he will be in Chris Kamara territory its not not his fault he got the job and seems a decent bloke but it was a cheap and catastrophic appointment then and is getting worse by the game , he talked of saving us , he’s going to be 7 points adrift when we next kick off , the bloke has got us relegated with 5 games to go , if you said if that happens would you sack him the day he was appointed , he’d be on the dole before Arnie slams in his first goal next Monday .

We have to target Arnie in this game, foul him, niggle him, wind him up he will crack and end up getting himself sent off. If we Give him the freedom of the park as we did when they came to our place he will punish us,
Shawcross indi give him hell.

They're a better team than us, and they're in better form than us. The best we can hope for is a draw, but a draws not good enough in our position. We need a win, and I just can't see that happening. To be honest, I don't have a clue how we go about this now.

Huh? How are we going to be 7 points adrift by the time we kick off? ....... oh wait, I see what you’ve done, you’re assuming Southampton will beat Chelsea in the earlier game and Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Swansea will all win. Hmmm, I understand now how you have predicted relegation for us every year for the past 8 or 9 years. You assume every other team will win all their games and we will lose all ours. Are you an actuary by any chance?

I don't mean to sound demeaning or insist my support is in any way better than yours, but I imagine it's a whole lot easier to be such a happy clapper while sitting watching the games from the comfort of your armchair, rather than investing hundreds of hours and pounds following your team up and down the country. Forgive us for being so negative, we've had this shite thrown in our faces for 18 months now - we all saw it coming, and nobody did a damn thing about it. No amount of happy clapping, blind faith posts from you imploring everyone to "sing for 90 minutes" is going to get us out of this mess now.

JVD, I have urged “sing for 90 minutes in a grand total of 1 post ( I think just before the Arsenal game). I am sorry if that annoys you and you are still festering over it 2 weeks later. I am irritated by people insisting we are gone, when we are not, there are still 15 points to play for. One last news item, apart for 12-18 months under Hughes, the FA Cup final and Europe, and 3-4 seasons under Waddo, you’ve had “this shite thrown in our faces for” over 150 years now. If that’s what’s really annoying you, look to yourself for the remedy and not at people who are doing their best from thousands of miles away to “support “ the team in their hour of need.
