To clarify...
In the Prem I agree not good enough now.
However, if we drop, you've got to work on the basis that Shaq, Allen, Shawcross, Butland will leave and maybe some others if their agents actually earn their money like Ramadan's is trying. Allen and Shawcross are probably the last of the solid pros (unless you include Adam or Fletcher who may not be good enough for even the Champ).
To get out of the Championship you need consistent performers, a good work ethic and a bit of flair. Of the players left, we may have a bit of flair which Cheap Motel, but where is any fight or leadership in that team? Huth could be like a Taggart, and SJW would always put in a shift and hold others to account - and score a decent amount perhaps without setting the world on fire admittedly.
Watching Fulham Leeds this week made me scared we'd be more of a Sunderland than Newcastle - not spend 2 years in Champ for the wrong reasons. Bullied and outfought every single week.
Oh - and get the pizza boys out of our club

greenhoff - to me it depends on his fitness and how desperate we are to reduce overheads. You've got to say a Huddersfield or newly promoted team would be attracted to his top flight experience

or even a Burnley/ Sam Allardyce Everton as a thrid choice centre half for less than £5m...

The big move has gone.

I thought he might be Chester based. If so, any NW club doesn't need a school change etc - just point the car in a different direction for a simlar amount of time to at Stoke.
I hope you're right and he stays by the way!

Maybe we should, you know sign new players, ideally young ones instead of having a Wembley 2011 tribute act?

If Big Robert is fit and injury free, he would be a great signing for a season in The Championship I've been thinking exactly the same

This is why we are where we are.
Pining after players that run around a lot, and have long since past it.

People don't realise how quickly an older player can go.
Nigel Worthington was a Premier league player the season before we got him and he was wank.
I'm not sure a player like Walters, who will be 35 early next season has much running around left in him.
Huth will be 34 next season. Gerry Taggart was younger than that when he first joined. We got one more regular season out of him once he turned 34. So yeah you might get something out of an old man centre half if you're lucky but even then it's going to be limited.
34 year old Whelan has seemingly gone already. Look how quickly 34 year old Fletcher has become worthless to anybody, and he was better than any of them at his peak.

We need to bring back Fuller & Sidibe..They'd still be up for it. More chance of a goal than Berahino.
Bring back Lou.
And move back to the Victoria Ground.

They were all good in their time here.... But even then, people (including myself) were screaming out for pace in the side!!!
So what's the fuckin point of dragging them back now??? Now they're even SLOWER!!!
I loved Huth, but a ball over top of him now and he'll be screwed!!!
We need younger, faster but with the same physical presence....where??? Dunno??? But that's not my job!!!

Jesus, we are soon to be a championship club. A Huth and a Walters would walk into most first 11s and would definitely be great guys to have in our squad next season.
People saying they are useless etc etc I can already see are living in cloud cuckoo land as to the signings we will be making next season.
Next year we will be combining youth with experienced pros and whatever we are left with after the vultures have surfaced. A Walters and a Huth are good eggs who are exactly the sort of guys we want around.
Your Cheap Motels and the rest of them will be long gone.
Next season we will have done a good job if we amend up with something like below.
Grant
Pieters Huth Cameron Edwards
Verlinder Adam N Diaye Ngoy
Campbell Berahinho
Butland sold 20m Allen sold 15m shaq sold 15m Cheap Motel free transfer Imbula season loan Bojan season loan Bauer sold for 5m Shawcross sold 5m Indi sold 8m

There must be around 6000 top flight players to scout in Europe but the "experts" on here want us to go back to 3 players who are past it and either haven't kicked a ball all season or have actually proven that they aren't good enough for the Championship. I suspect you actually haven't seen any Championship football this season if you think these 3 are anywhere near good enough. Whether the choice is between the wankers that Cartwright and his crew sign for the club or the ex Pulis Dad's army that some of you want then either way we are well and truly fucked!

Maybe it is a little OTT but seriously I think there are a few people here who are expecting relegation will be combined with rebuilding. I think we will be severely limited to what we are able to do with Wimmer, Berahinho, Johnson, Ireland, Fletcheral and Bojan on good wages and effectively offering nothing to a championship outfit
