I can't do the linky thing from Twitter, but some Yank posed this question on it earlier. You just got to love'em...

Is it you asking the question, or the person on twitter, or both???......I'm not sure it's clear from the post? Sorry for my ignorance but I'm assuming that the irony is that his former best mate got killed by one? (sorry I'm a bit slow, must be the lost hour!)

I guess "happiness is a warm gun" must have been one of Lennon's lyrics.

I guess "happiness is a warm gun" must have been one of Lennon's lyrics. It was. He saw it on the front of a gun magazine and thought how insane it actually was.

I guess "happiness is a warm gun" must have been one of Lennon's lyrics. Mint. Been chatting about the merits of Lennon recently. I'm not a massive fan. Then noticed {again} he's credited on Bowie's 'Fame'. 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' is a great track, like a Bowie track as it starts. I'd forgotten about it... or perhaps replaced it in me head jukebox with this... Nice.

Sir Paul might also ask why the Queen doesn't have a day job? Globalization has gone too far, when one country can be ruled by a celebrity living 4000 miles away.

I follow my own drum beat and am immune to the opinions of teenagers and celebrities.

To me it means that you should scream for the issues you care about in your own country and maybe observe and realize that you have no direct say in what happens in someone else's country. I hope that Trump gets kicked out of office but have no relevant opinion on what happens to Theresa May or to the Russians.

When the cowriter of the greatest band the world has seen gets murdered in the USA, I guess his band mate might have an opinion. After all, it's not like the USA haven't stuck their nose in other countries business p, whether welcome or not over the years... God Save the Queen

I'm sure celebrities wouldn't last long out there but at least they'd be providing some extra target practise. You've shot one Beatle, would two be being greedy?

God Save the Queen Of course he is entitled to an opinion.......and when he announces it, the media will report it. Then the opposing opinions start arriving. I've had friends stabbed to death in Mexico and San Francisco. All I can do is be aware that bad things happen and try and avoid them. The media will not show up and cover my crusade to eliminate knives in Mexico or San Francisco. And, you are right, the US does stick it's big red nose in everyone's business.....so be careful, we'll all be lucky to survive Trump. Now that I think about it, Sir Paul is right.

I do not. I have never shot at a target even vaguely in the shape of a human being. Not even a Bigfoot? Not even a Bigfoot and I have seen three of them. As mentioned earlier, I put my two sons on the gun when they were under 10 years of age in order to de-mystify the gun, so that they would know not to touch in case they encountered one when they were not in my presence......the result, they have no interest in guns. Job done. Personal responsibility is my mantra......and I would never shoot at a target unless it was a bullseye circle or a bleach bottle filled with water.

That's an interesting phrase, "I put my two sons on the gun" Well my father used to work for Bass🔺(Peace be upon him)& he had a similar idea with me & ale, & do you know what happened when I encountered ale when I wasn't in his presence... It's a lesson he taught me that I've never forgotten. "& a pint of Bass in a straight glass"*** ***Words courtesy of the traditional Christmas song, Twelve Pints of Christmas. (to alleviate any cultural misunderstandings)

To answer the original question (which most of you have ignored or forgotten) it's because McCartney's day has been and gone. He is a washed-up has-been with nothing to offer any more. He's insecure and in need of attention and public adoration. It's a classic case and we see it all the time from those deluded figures from the past who think they're still relevant. But they're not.
You never heard Sir Ken Dodd speak out of turn did you? There's your answer.
