Good. Wish more British players would do that.

In the very short term for stoke, In the championship and lower leagues
According to scholes and co, we dont need, say will hughes from derby, we need imbulla from porto
But is imbulla really cheaper and better than will hughes??
Sessegnon, james morrison and oli watkins have all been outstanding In the championship this year
Sessegnon will be too expensive for stoke. But the other two... Apparently we dont want them, because we want inferior, more expensive foreign players instead. Which is an odd way of running a football club

Good. Wish more British players would do that. When he is not getting sacked or suspended for talking rubbish. Jamie carragher says the Academy system, prizes technique and produces babies not men. Which sounds on the money to me

Well of the current players being linked with other clubs (even if we remain in the Premiership) we need to have our quota of home grown ( age 21 +) players in the squad.
If the likes of Butland, Allen , Johnson. Shawcross?, Crouch? will be moving on then this aspect of our squad needs addressing urgently
I do hope that we can keep Bauer, Badou, Ramadan and Stafylidis

I agree though it’s mystifying we our last two managers both seemingly had little interest in shopping in the lower leagues. We hardly ever seem to go for hungry, up and coming talent.

Players from the lower leagues good enough for the Premier League are as rare as rocking horse shit and even if one or two do exist we’re not the type of club able to take risks with them.

Why aren't we? Not taking risks is the nub of the problem for PL clubs outside the high righteous. Hence why the PL is full of Jonny foreigners and the same old merry go round of coaches guaranteed a job no matter how shite they are. There’s plenty of player and coach talent in the EFL just takes a club with some balls to employ them.

It's hardly a risk is it?

Are they really though? Burnley and Brighton are doing ok, plenty of ours were good enough when we came up. There’s loads of good, exciting players down there at the moment who at the very least are worth a punt? Given who we’ve spent money on in recent times why aren’t we able to take a punt on someone like Maddison?

They are talking upwards of 20M for him and Fulham reportedly want close to 30M for Cairney (a player I really rate but nearly at his peak at 27). We start sweating these days at fees over 10M.

For us to get out of the championship one assumes that we need British, hungry players, though Wolves appear to have done so with a large Portuguese contingent
