If that is the case you could bet every cent you have that we will be relegated

Lambert is very coy with regard to discussing injuries in his press conferences it seems. Once again if you read between the lines he hinted rather sheepishly at problems in his prezzer yesterday but you are left to find out the full extent of the disaster for yourself. Without Shaq it is likely 'Goodnight Irene' for us and the Prem if I can borrow from the great Leadbelly classic of the same name

barfi.ch/FCB/Aufgebot-fuer-FCB-Spieler-Oberlin-fuer-Schweizer-NatiVladimir Petkovic had to accept the forfait of Xherdan Shaqiri. The striker from Stoke City is suffering from a calf injury he had suffered on Monday in the championship game against Manchester City. The injury does not seem serious, but Shaqiri prefers to be treated by the club doctors and stay in England; Stoke City is in acute danger of relegation in the Premier League.

Oh joy - this explains the ‘can’t just rely on Shaq’ quotes that were coming out yesterday then.

Might as well throw the towel in now and start preparing for next season starting with Scholes out.

I'm surprised he has lasted this long, last season he was in the injury room for a good part of the time. If he does not play tomorrow I'm afraid we are well and truly head high in a pond of liquid shit, and sinking fast.

Hopefully it's like one of those injuries Ryan Giggs always used to get before an international fixture.

If his intention is to play in the same lame arsed way as he did on Monday and v Southampton I'd hazard a guess that he won't be particularly missed
