Realistically though, if he ain't good enough for Fulham, is he good enough for us?

Note the comment from the Fulham fan at the bottom: "Bocanegra has been a superb player for us and his versatility is something we should have kept" BlocFFC Doesn't sound too bad at all! In fact, there seems to be universal bewilderment from the Fulham fans as to why Bocanegra's leaving: BBC messageboards

Realistically though, if he ain't good enough for Fulham, is he good enough for us? I agree. Why should we have the cast offs from teams just scraping from relegation? We can do better. SGS

To be honest with the budget we will have two or three players like him coupled with a couple of big signings are exactly what we need he has both prem and international experience lets not kid ourselves that we are going to bring in 5 or 6 £3-5 million players cus it ain't gonna happen.

Left footed centre back or left back - ideal I would have thought.
If I were Tone I'd send him an e-card on Sunday (his 29th Birthday) and get Ilford Dave to courier a few packets of Oatcakes round to demonstrate that there isn't much difference between North Staffs food and Mexican/American food.
Sorted! ;D

I'm still fearing a lot of people are going to be a bit disappointed with our shopping list this summer. Bocanegra is an experienced Premiership player and people need to realise that he is just the type of player we are going to sign. The money that you are talking about to sign better than players like him is not on our agenda.

Very true Jamo. Most of our signings are going to be experienced players just like Bocanegra. And a number of them are going to be Bosmans - hopefully that will leave a bit in the kitty for the odd high profile younger player. Worked for Waddo and it is probably the way TP is going to try to do it.
Let's be honest there isn't that much difference between an Oatcake and aTortilla wrap!

Forny, I worry when I see comments like "we can do better" about players who not long ago we wouldn't have dreamed about signing. When we aren't spending millions and millions on players I just hope people remember it's a slow process and we have to be realistic. We have made it and we can't waste our opportunity but we can't jeopardize the club's future either.
