Cocktail MI1 A few good men Top Gun The firm And strangely even though he was totally wrong for the part he made a good job of the jack reacher films.

Collateral. The film was shot almost exclusively at night around LA. Michael Mann's cool visuals and smooth tunes.

I know he can be a cock, but I think he's an underrated actor. I liked Collateral and The Colour Of Money. Very good in Rain Man, too.

Think born on the fourth of July is a class film, bit different than his normal roles. Also American made is good

Collateral. The film was shot almost exclusively at night around LA. Michael Mann's cool visuals and smooth tunes. Cruise is absolutely scintillating in that film, the scenes with Foxx in the cab are up almost uo there with the interplay between Pacino/De Niro in 'Heat,' imho.

oxymoron- there is no such thing as a good tom cruise movie. now tom hanks that's a different matter. It's not an oxymoron. I think you mean it's a contradiction. Any road, there are plenty of good Tom cruise films Jerry Maguire Risky business Magnolia Rainman Mission impossible and quite a few more. And plenty of bad Tom hanks films Dragnet Joe versus the volcano A league of their own Bonfire of the vanities You've got mail The da Vinci code etc

Top Gun War of The Worlds
Talking about Tom Hanks, he has made a few bad movies and You Got Mail tops that little list. Watched his latest with Meryl Streep in The Post. Very good freedom of speech movie about the Washington Post exposing American governments cover up in sending their soldiers to die in Vietnam. Sort of prequel to Watergate.

The side stories mix so well. The taxi supervisor conversation. Visiting Foxx's mum etc.

The weird thing about Tom Cruise is that, because he’s so good looking and an intense/oddball type dude, he gets less credit for how good of an actor he is. It’s strange that it works that way but it’s easy to assume that he wins parts because his face fits. In reality, he’s just very good at what he does. Not an elite actor by any means, but definitely brilliant.

It’s strange that it works that way but it’s easy to assume that he wins parts because his face fits. In reality, he’s just very good at what he does. Not an elite actor by any means, but definitely brilliant. He adds and lifts scenes. He doesn't steal them. The courtroom with Nicholson in AFGM is a good example. They both build up their characters' tension and the famous explosive "you can't handle the truth" comes from Jack not Cruise. Rainman was a great movie in it's time and although Hoffman does the 'acting' as the savant it's Cruise who's character changes through the story. I think Cruise produced some of the later MI's. I thought they were good. The franchise stayed interesting and Simon Pegg's uncool English character is fun.
