Of course 3 points would have been fantastic but coming back down to the real world that was a game we could easily have lost and our newly tough tight defence and the way we're now defending right through the team meant we held out for a good point. Would have been lovely too if Cheapo-M had taken that chance but that's Lambo's problem in a nutshell, he can't put out a first XI without serious weak links and that's not down to him.
Still think we're in with a serious chance of survival, nick something from the daunting run of fixtures coming up, watch someone around or above us plummet (my hunch is Newcastle) and we may be strong enough to get 17th not 18th. The form table does feel about right.

Didn't go the game. Listened to radio and watched a bit on a stream.
First half looked ok apart from the bizarre sub for dioufs injury.
Second half sounded like the Alamo apart from choupo miss.
For the subs he has to lose some points as they were strange. Then there's the bench which wouldn't grace Stafford Rangers. What has Ramadan gotta do to get a look in.
So for me it's a 6.

4.5, Good starting lineup, he then ruined it putting two LWB on thinking Stafs is better than Jese crossing or going forward. Pieters sub ruined our possession, Then the Crouch sub ruined our counter ability and then Jese was too late and misaligned. He's a sub amateur like Hughes. It's all 100% lineup and no tactile game management post 45mins. Fucking ridiculous. He's shored up the defense, but that isn't what we only need out of a "manage"r.

8 Good away point off a side in just as much trouble as us. There were half chances for us both halves and Moting should have scored second half.

A clean sheet and a point was great. We're much better defensively now.
But...(and it has to be seen in our need of getting three points) the bench and the substitutions were absolutely bonkers.

I thought the Bournemouth game was a "must win" game? Wasn't Brighton also? What about Leicester? 3 games on we still haven't won a "must win" game. When is the next "must win" game coming around?
Lambert is not a Premier League quality manager. He is Championship quality at best. However, I will never blame him if we get relegated. He is doing his very best in the time allotted to him.

Positive: one loss in six. Back four settling. Shaqiri form. Negative: Subs. Why Pieters Johnson Fletcher Crouch and not Sobhi Ireland Affelay Campbell

Why doesn't someone ask Lambert these questions in the after match interview, about the subs he made and those not included

6, Crouch was a bad move, always makes it easy for the opposition, we some how got worse in the second half, he really needs to find a way to get Shaq in the middle.

I watched on a stream in a cracking pub which was packed but I won't divulge it's identity or location.
It's a 3 from me. We need to win one of these must win games but whilst we were good (again) defensively we were relying on the power of prayer to get a goal. Lambert doesn't appear to have worked out how to get us scoring. Yes he is short of options but we had Shaq and Diouf on different planets, Cheapo ambling around and our set pieces were pathetic, again.

10 for me. He’s turned us into a fortress at the back again. Shame he has such little choice with the strikers. Can’t blame him for that.

5, Fine with the starting line up
Shit himself with the Stafy sub and keeping 3 defenders on the bench. Doesn't seem to know how to attack but we're better defensively. That said, we're still lucky to get the point.

5* I think we played ok, went with some Southampton friends. They are convinced they are going down. I must admit they look worse than us. Very slow at going forward. We need to score goals if we are going to have any chance of staying up.

6 - A point is a point. Clueless going forward but getting the defence right had to be the first priority.

4.5 Starting Chopper yet again, prefer Ramadan but fairly happy with the rest. Diouf goes off and oh Lord, did he get it wrong. Staffy was playing well so he moves him to RW......for Pieters! Chopper to striker, staggering when Jesé is on the bench. Jesé for Diouf would have been the logical option, his changes completely disrupted the team when we were playing well and organised. Soton worked their way into the game and were the better team 2nd half. Crouch - don’t care how many headers he gets too, doesn’t offer enough to justify a place when we need to score.

5. We needed a win and didn't get it. However we didn't lose which keeps Southampton in the shit with us.
Problem is we've got to stop 'keeping in touch' and find a win from somewhere and fast. We're running out of games. Everton is must win.

Didn't see the game, but I understand it was dire.
The thing that matters most now is points on the board.
On that basis 7
Then minus 1.5 for his subs, playing Choupo-Moting and one striker.
5.5 overall

Team picked was ok Injury to mame caused probs Pieters showed he is the worst left back and needs to be dropped - out of position/ not marking the winger / getting sucked in / his not marking allowed the cross from which they should have scored Crouch should have come on - limited tho he is Jesé and choupomoting both showed they have no stomach for the fight - but we have very little else left Defence looks solid Geoff is to slow - he slows the tempo down when we have a chance to counter stack Shaq our one talent Joe Allen an absolute star for his work rate and self less running *

* First half was a bit of a non event in terms of clear cut chances but we probably had the biggest one with N'Diaye's header just before half time. I thought we came out okay in the second half, the period of the game we seemed to lose our focus and started to look a bit leggy was between 60-80 minutes. Jack has made two big saves in that time and Boufal has probably had the clearest chance of the game with the sitter he missed. The encouraging thing was we seemed to regain some momentum in the last ten minutes of the game and I actually felt like we were the team who could've nicked it towards the end.
The shape of the team was fine, everybody knew their jobs and we nullified the threat of the likes of Tadic, Redmond, Carillo and Gabbiadini when he came on pretty comfortably I thought. The biggest issue right now is we aren't creating enough clear cut opportunities, N'Diaye's header and Choupo's one on one are probably the only clear cut chances we created and that's not enough given the situation we are in.
Lambert has clearly focused on installing some discipline and increased work ethic, regardless of how many points we should've accumulated nobody can argue that one defeat in six with three clean sheets isn't a significant improvement on nine defeats in our previous twelve before he took over.
Even though the absence of Ramadan baffles me, especially as he would've been a logical replacement for Diouf on Saturday, at least Lambert has been decisive with his substitutions and not afraid to act early. We had Jese and Crouch on by 65 minutes, one of my biggest gripes under Hughes was not only how late he left the subs, but quite often he'd only make two subs as well.
There's positive signs there to suggest we can get out of this, we just need to start turning some of these draws into wins sooner rather than later.
7 for Lambert on Saturday for me.
