Cross Country Trains just announced no trains from Stoke to Southampton tomorrow.
I'm going by coach but can't believe this is still on from a travel and safety point of view.....

I wonder how many fans have returned tickets this week?
Fans should surely get a refund from the train provider.

How can someone pay for something, not receive it, not have a refund and then expect to pay for the same thing again at a slightly discounted rate.

Not sure how Cross Country operate.

I wonder how many fans have returned tickets this week? Fans should surely get a refund from the train provider. The train operator is obliged to give you a full refund but it's easier with some operators than others. For example if you book online with Virgin Trains if your train doesn't run they will automatically refund the card that you paid with, you don't even need to put a claim in. I don't know how it works with Cross Country but you will definitely qualify for a refund if your train is cancelled.

Crosscountry are running tomorrow although trains will be hourly and they won’t run south of Reading.
Southampton Central is open so you’ll need to go via London.

Once again this country falls apart with some bad weather.
I once visited Switzerland and the previous week they had had 8 feet (2.4 metres to you young uns) of snow and everything carried on as normal.

I once visited Switzerland and the previous week they had had 8 feet (2.4 metres to you young uns) of snow and everything carried on as normal. This argument comes up a lot but you can't compare Britain to a small alpine European country, or a bunch of the Nordic countries. There's about 70m people on this little island, and we have some of the busiest road networks and transport routes in the world. The systems and infrastructure that would be required for us to function normally in weather like this aren't sufficient because weather like this is anomalous. Our winter climate is generally temperate.

To compare England to Switzerland in coping with the winter weather stakes is like comparing Stoke' s squad to that of Man C in the Premier League & asking why we aren't winning the league! Not a fair comparison at all. Switzerland is a country used to snow hence being prepared for it & able to cope better.. Canada, Sweden, Denmark will be the same. As someone's mentioned the UK but especially England is a temperate climate country. The country doesn't deal with extreme winter conditions well coz we rarely get snow of any concern & aren't equipt to deal with it when it arrives.

If you can get cross country to Reading then pick up the local train to Basingstoke (same route as cross country it just stops at 3 local stations and takes 5mins longer) then get an intercity from Basingstoke to Southampton (this train would have originated at London Waterloo)

My train is now cancelled from waterloo, but an hourly service is running so should be able to use my ticket on another train and get there

No trains from Kemble to Southampton looked at swindon to southampton still no trains. So resigned to watching it on the net. up The potters for this massive six pointer ⚽️
