Hope they make decision before Saturday morning as were on 8.25 from Stafford.

Just seen on Twitter that they have cancelled their pre match press conference due to the weather, and also club shop etc. closed.
Travelling down from the North East to Stoke shortly to then meet friends to travel to Southampton in the morning...i feel this could be a wasted journey.

Its definitely not going to be on mate I think you're probably right, but i'll be pissed off if i dont travel and the game goes ahead so its a tough one. The forecast for Southampton isnt terrible over the next 30 hours so i think it has a chance but we will see. And a decision won't be made until Saturday morning you'd imagine, by which time most stokies will be on the road..

My daughter lives down in Bath and its absolutely horrible. Its got to be doubt. They now have in the south what we've had in the North for best part of a week. The media sensationalise anything below watford and the apparant meltdown that ensues. With some rain forecast and temperetures up to 6 degrees, you'd think they could get the game on.

It will be the H+S brigade that call it off ...conditions around stadium will be the big factor

Southampton official Twitter have said they are in talks with the Police, Stoke, Local Council and will provide further update at 5pm. They are 'monitoring the situation'
With snow forecast this afternoon in Southampton i can only see them making one decision, to call it off.

When you look at the forecast from this evening onwards though, it looks fine.
Well above freezing and no more snow.
Wouldn't rule out a postponement 100%, especially after that update, but I'd still be a bit surprised if they'd pull the plug if they could bank on 18 hours of above-freezing temperatures to sort out the Health and Safety concerns.

Thought I would register and give you guys a heads up for people that are coming down here.
It ain’t great to be honest and I would be surprised if it goes ahead.
I live a couple of miles from St Mary’s and it’s snowing again now.
It took 4 hours for people to get through town last night and the pavements and roads are not clearing.

Heavy snow forecast for much of Hampshire through this afternoon and evening, pitch wont be a problem it will be if they can clear snow and ice from the stands and around the ground, state of surrounding roads and whether public transport is running. I would say 50/50 at best.

Fuller, I don't know where you got that info from about the under soil heating from but I am sure it still hasn't been done, although I can see the reasoning behind it. It's my "home" game literally and a guy I knew worked on the ground staff at st Mary's and told us that it hadn't any a few years back. As you say the temperature is rising tonight so things will look a lot better tomorrow. From a personal and selfish point of view I hope the game gets postponed as I am sunning it in kenya😉

Hope this game is safe to go ahead think we will nick a win there tomorrow there in a right slump. Would rather play them now than a midweek game in a few weeks. Safety first though.

I'm meant to be flying down tomorrow morning from Manchester, a few things for me, will the flight even take off? Is Southampton Airport even open for it to arrive? Will the game be on?
I hope we know something today as I will be very pissed off if I fly there in the morning to be told it is off at 10am.

See link above. My guess is they will look at the bad weather this afternoon and decide to postpone. Then it will clear up over the evening, warm up over night, start melting rapidly when the sun comes up in the morning, and by 3.00 PM it will be a glorious winter's day and everyone will be questioning why was it postponed!

I know this might not be any use to you mate but Sky have just been on about Bournemouth airport and how it was shut which has caused the cancellation of Bournemouth’s flight up to East Midlands for their game at Leicester tomorrow so I’d imagine conditions will be pretty much the same down the coast

What have you been smoking? Staying in the premier league is a lot more important to a club like stoke city, than winning a trophy. If we get relegated, it will mean job loses, less income for the city etc. We will earn millions by staying up, not by winning a trophy. One trophy will affect fuck all other than more room needed in the cabinet. I very rarely agree with you gift but I think you're right on this one. Staying in the Premier league IS more important than winning the FA Cup. If you go back to our promotion season, would people really swap that promotion for winning the FA Cup, meaning that the last 10 seasons might not even have happened? We'd still be on 14,000 gates, we might even be back in the third tier. And (most importantly) every year that we continue to REMAIN in the Premiership, then we have a better opportunity of actually winning a trophy that season because we'll have better players at our disposal than if we weren't. However its is perfectly feasible that we stay in the Premier League even if we lose tomorrow therefore it can't be classed as the biggest game in last 10 years

Forecast looks good.
Temperatures above 0 from this afternoon, overnight and all through tomorrow.
No more snow forecast either.
Plenty of time for it to clear up sufficiently.
