Are they on their way out? Never had one and never would consider one. Always loved the look of estates, currently rocking a leon cupra estate.
What are the plus points of a saloon?

Depends on whether you use your car as the family workhorse, if its the latter you cant beat a hatchback or estate.

Just think you have the versatility with an estate to be both powerful, fun to drive and spacious.

Ive got a 3 series, however only through limited choice (company car) next car will be an SUV if given free reign. To be more precise one of a Ford Edge Sport, Jaguar F Pace or a Range Rover Evoque. Ford Edge in this colour ๐๐๐ I just found a great car on Auto Trader: www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801212957368

Always had either a hatch, estate or people carrier. Next car will definitely be a saloon......quieter and quicker to warm up the air inside the car when itโs cold I find. I think the ride in a saloon is a bit more planted too. As long as you have seats that can fold down so you can get some longer items into the boot they arenโt completely impractical.

Estates used to be noisy and rattle, they didn't hold their value either. Not to mention the handling was hardly Fezzi Park.
Had loads of Saloons but gone back to a Hatchback for practicality.

1976 Citroen safari is what's required. The original people carrier. Smooth as silk.

1976 Citroen safari is what's required. The original people carrier. Smooth as silk. I thought the DS line ceased in 1975 chuff. Or did the Safari continue for another year? To me it never quite had the elegance and proportions of the saloon, though I'd swap my Mondeo estate for it if I could!

To me it never quite had the elegance and proportions of the saloon, though I'd swap my Mondeo estate for it if I could! That's the beast. With the seats in the boot folded down it could carry 9 passengers. I think you're correct about 1975. ๐

With a Skoda Octavia you get a saloon and a hatchback in one car.
