I thought Wilshire supposed to be overrated?
I don't see any evidence of this.
Everyone on here thinks he's shit!

Alli/Dembele/Wanyama have nothing to do with Wilshere being over-rated. Lack of other options has nothing to do with him being over-rated. His improvement this season is real, but it's only taking him back towards where he was when he first broke onto the scene as a precocious teenager, when he was going to be The Next Big Thing. I'm really not interested in how 'rated' he is. My point was that is things stand there isn't a better option in central midfield, and that includes Alli, who doesn't actually play that position for his club and has rarely played it for England either. Well as the whole thread is about Keane calling Wilshere overrated, MY point is that whether you think there's no better option for England or not is irrelevant, so there. Game, set & match to me

Still, gold star for you.

Re: Roy Keane, I must say I thoroughly enjoy his ITV punditry partnership with Lee Dixon. (Glenn Hoddle coming off the bench as a replacement pundit from time to time isn't a bad substitute either). Yes Keane is a grouch, and tough to please, but there's always something to be said for watching him savaging the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, after their latest European capitulations. Good work ITV, after many years of sh*te football coverage previously. Didn't Liverpool win 5-0? Sorry, I meant to convey Arsenal & Liverpool failing in Europe over a long period of time, rather than specifically in their most recent fixtures. E.g. when Liverpool lost a 3 goal lead away to Sevilla last year, Keane was abosultely scathing about them being too weak to win anything this season. (Made a nice change from the usual bland inoffensive TV punditry I thought).

I agree, he isn't especially insightful, he often talks a lot of shit, but he brings an air of genuine danger which is entertaining.

Thinking of over-rated/ under-rated young midfield players, what has happened to Ollie Shenton at Stoke these days. Must be about 4 years now since he made his first team debut.

Winks is a very decent player, I would very much get him in the squad. Wasn't Allardyce after N'Zonzi for England at a time? Supposedly so, it turned out there wasn't a loophole after all there. That is a massive shame. Would have been our best midfielder by a distance.

Wilshere could be a brilliant player if he wasn't such a moaning, lazy, fat arsed twat of a man!

He can dribble with the ball well and that’s about it. Can’t tackle that well, his passing isn’t really that incisive and his goal scoring ability leaves a lot to be desired.
Definitely overrated.

Dele Alli (Also a putrid verminous serpent) is twice the player in the same role. He doesn't play the same role does he? Wilshere plays deeper? I'll concede wilshire plays slightly deeper - but I've seen alli also play slightly deeper less frequently.
