A cheapo Casio watch about £10 nowadays is surprisingly waterproof.
Competitive dinghy sailors, many like me, capsize wear and use them all the time. They are not sold as waterproof but they are !

I've paid half-decent money for Tags, but never been brave enough to go near water with one on. Doesn't feel like a natural thing to do, weird I know.
