But what about the millions that were put on the likes of Man City, ManU, Chelsea, Spurs throughout the season? Poor bookies had to pay out on 5000/1 for a few quid Howdo you know there were millions bet on those events ? These are not generally deep markets. Just small time punters having a few quid on. They lost heavily on Leicester and it's a bet they are never going to repeat. Well based on this year alone. There is currently £13M placed on Betfair alone. Take all other bookies and I’m confident there were millions betted on the other teams during the Leicester winning season. Yes they would have lost some on Leicester but ultimately they still made profit.

When we returned to the Premiership I was driving down to Bolton for the 1st game from Newcastle. I was listening to Talksport who were suggesting we would go down straight away.
Just about Leeds I rang in saying “no chance” as being owned by Bet365 they would ensure we would have sufficient investment to keep us up. They didn’t realise we were owned by Bet365
I now find it difficult to comprehend the position we are in. Is it complacency or lack of interest?
Only time will tell

On an individual basis yes, I doubt they will offer 5000/1 again for a while but this is an industry that crows about their losses more than most. It's just good publicity. I think the biggest individual bet at that price was £20 so they were never giving away more than a million or 2 in total each. Factor in how many accumulators were buggered each week that season with the big teams inconsistency and I'll bet they made an absolute fortune. It wouldn't surprise me if the bets on just the premier league ante-post alone more than covered their losses. There were at least two £50 bets placed by Leicester fans that we know of. Big chain bookmakers these days make far more money from FOBT'S than football and horseracing. If they're forced down to £2 stakes on those, a lot of betting shops will close. At least two! And how many punters put hundreds if not thousands of pounds on the usual suspects, totalling millions. Do you really believe the bookies made a loss on Leicester winning the league?

I could fall in a barrow full of tits and come out sucking my thumb. Now that I'm stealing.
