Why was the only manager that was willing to come to Stoke overlooked, from what he has achieved in the past 5 years he would have been ideal for Stoke at this moment in time. only my opinion I don't think we would be in the situation we are in now.

He wasn't the only manager, Lambert was also willing.
Based on both managers past experience, we chose the right one. Although I don't think Graham was ever in the race.

Unproven in England. Too much at stake to take a risk. I also echo what thegift said above. Irrelevant now

Because managing in the Swedish league is no preparation for a Premier League relegation battle?

If we go down we should be straight on the phone. Agreed. I would be very open and honest with the paying public and state quite simply that we were putting our faith in a young manager, with fresh ideas and that he needed time to bed in and turn us around. It will never happen in a million years under the current regime, sadly.

"The club was coming to terms with being relegated to the fourth tier of Swedish football, and I could sense the negativity around the city. A sort of mistrust from the public. I got the feeling people in Östersund didn’t actually like the club much. We had around 200 people in the stands for my first game in charge. And I’d say around half of those wanted us to lose." This lad needs some 'media training' to hide behind. Way too honest.

We won't sack Lambert after less than half a season and with a further two years of his contract to run.

We won't sack Lambert after less than half a season and with a further two years of his contract to run. Unfortunately I have no faith in the Stoke Board to do the right thing. They have shown themselves to be utterley incompetent in the running of a football club. In the present circumstances, it would seem obvious to give Paul Lambert a short-term contract with a huge bonus for avoiding relegation. I am sure he has the bonus, but 6 months is enough, NOT 2 1/2 years. Graham Potter seems exceptional. I am sure he will return to England as a manager somewhere, if not at Stoke.

So far he hasn't moved the needle in any way. If that continues to be the case, we can't go into next season with him. Enthusiasm levels will be non-existent. Even if we go down, he's got to show himself worthy of the chance to bring us up, and prove he isn't the joke candidate many thought he was when his name was first linked. He's a bloke who's done nothing worthy of being on a Prem job longlist since 2011 - and that was with a coaching team around him he hasn't worked with since. He's got to do something to show himself in a different light - or he's got to be toast

What's not sensible about this?

What's not sensible about this? That would've been eminently sensible. Hopefully there is a break clause that, for good reason, went unreported at the time of his appointment. If not, no idea why we've needlessly gone a fair way to boxing ourselves in. Martin Spinks reported 2 days after Hughes' sacking that Lambert had put himself forward for the job and was prepared to take it on just until the summer. Unsurprising as he'd just been pipped to the Hull job by managerial colossus Nigel Adkins www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-paul-lambert-celtic-1026480Paul Lambert is ready to answer any SOS from Stoke City to manage them until the end of the season. Lambert is believed to have made known his enthusiasm for the vacancy following Saturday's dismissal of Mark Hughes. The 48 year-old Scot would be a rank outsider, of course, but does have the attraction of being available to take over immediately.

Potter knew you would say that, so he replies: “You have to respect and understand the environment. So I don’t think it’s a case of taking anything from Östersund and transferring it to somewhere else. But concepts around how a team functions, the importance of the relationship between football and the person, how you develop both, are always valid.”
