Going to hire a Villa for 7 of us in October for my wife's 40th - 4 adults and a couple of teenagers. Aside from the difference in transfer times can anyone tell me which is better Palma Nova or Alcuida? Any of you been to either or even better been to both?

Hi I ve live in Mallorca and have done for 35 years Its easier to find villas in the alcudia/ pollensa area as palma nova tends to cater for people who want apartments Let me know if you need any other info

Are the resorts similar as in size, restaurants, bars etc?

Not been to Alcudia but have been to Majorca many many times. Personally have always preferred Cala D'or. Been there 5 or 6 times. Great beaches, nice town and ideal for families and plenty of bars

Yes the resorts are similar but alcudia area is more child friendly You are right about the transfer times you will find more villas available in pollensa and alcudia I have a few contacts for villas Are you not renting a car, if not and you are planning a beach set up you need to start looking for a villa asap

I dived into the pool, in an act of bravado & it was so cold, my daughter said I dived straight back out & never went back in all holiday

Been meaning to go back ever since and never got around to it.

It hadn't changed much apart from the fact there there was a few more empty shops and restaurants which I believe was the result of a bad storm a few years ago

The left hand side as you looked out to sea was pretty barren when we were there.

Yea the whole bay is built up, mainly apartments as you look to the left , most of the cafes and restaurants and touristy souvenir shops are to the right . Still full of Irish , Brits and Germans .
