The family stand and new corner had masses of empty seats yesterday as per usual and at one point about 10 minutes before half time it looked like 500 walked on mass🤔

They were back in their seats in the second half. Don't know what the full story is.

The attendance figures are way out at all games eg Man city, Arsenal and Man utd report full houses all the time when there are masses of empty seats. The police have the actual figures and if you google Man Utd actual attendances there is a newspaper report on how the club said the attendance figure for a match was 74,000 and the police figures showed it to be 62,000.

A family of 500 Asian supporters wandering aimlessly around the stadium, not in their seats, potentially blocking the view of matchplay, not sitting down until second half?
Crikey, don't let the clapping fingers instead of crapping poster(s) see this, they'll have a field day

Not sure why clubs would issue higher false crowd figures. I could understand publishing lower crowd figures for tax evasion and it probably happened before internet bookings etc. The other issue is fire regulations and if a large fire occurred the fire brigade would want to know immediately how many people they were dealing with. For this reason alone I am sure there must be a turnstile count of people going into the ground and not just relying on ticket sales and ST numbers.

Presumably they quote how many tickets/seats sold rather than if they were presented to the card reader.

Yeah attendances are definitely based on tickets sold and not on actually who turn up. I hate that; for me the clue is in the word "attendance". If they attend it goes towards the count if they don't it doesn't. But bigger numbers look better when telling the sponsors how many are at your games. On a seperate note our last 3 home games have been £25 an adult ticket for the boothen and south stands. Excellent pricing. My mate paid £22 at Vale (not sure what stand).
