I would just piss myself if he got banned for 6 months or even if he got pissed in Spain did something stupid then got arrested and had to serve his sentence. Neither will happen of course but there's no harm in hoping. Gouranga.

I wonder whether the same treatment would be afforded the 'everyday' tax fraudster?

strange sentencing in Spain, all these multi millionaires will just keep on doing it, they should change it and slap a couple in jail and see how many then start paying their taxes.

He should've banked in Gibralter, that would've pissed the Spanish off twice as much.

Seems like all players in Spain are at it. Press only cares to mention it when it's a big name though.

They should change the law and impose bigger sentences if they are rich, especially for tax fraud!

I wonder whether the same treatment would be afforded the 'everyday' tax fraudster? Of course they would, Spain is just like here the rich and powerfull don't get away with anything!!! Nothing to do with being rich and powerful mate. In Spain there are literally millions "at it" (including Joe Public) as there are so many loopholes to enable you to get away with it for years without being spotted. The loopholes are there because it is such a convoluted tax system (even Financial advisers and lawyers have called for their govt. to make it clearer as you can get caught out by accident even if you're trying to play by the rules). The system is absolutely nothing like ours at all and it is standard practice, indeed part of their law that if a sentence is less than 2 years for tax fraud it is automatically suspended if you pay the money back in one go or make an agreement to pay back over time....exactly what's happened here. In fact it's the opposite to how things are over here for the rich and powerful, in that over the last few years they've specifically been targeting the richest due to their failing economy to ensure they get the most bang for their buck when they take them to court. There are many many many many more members of the general public that they could also get like this but they won't see as big a return and would have to wait years for the monies to be paid back in installments. It's a completely different tax system, one that's abused by a huge number of the population and this sentence is completely bog standard regardless of your status, wealth or fame.

Seems like all players in Spain are at it. Press only cares to mention it when it's a big name though. The whole country is at it. It's the national pastime. Italy is worse. As Trump's best friend (after Putin) Leonna Helmsley said "only the little people pay taxes".
