Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films, Lucasfilm announced today. These new films will be part of a series separate from the ongoing episodic Skywalker saga, as well as the recently announced trilogy of films being developed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson. “David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in a statement. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.” "In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.” n the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.” No other details, including plot or release dates, have been announced for this new series of films. While there's currently no release plan announced for Johnson's trilogy either, the writer/director did speak with IGN about his plans for the new trilogy of Star Wars movies. uk.ign.com/articles/2018/02/06/game-of-thrones-showrunners-to-write-produce-star-wars-movies

The new trilogy is one big clusterfuck.
And the later series of GoT is much that way since they deviated further from the books.

I thought last Jedi was an improvement on force awakens tbf but still some dissapointments there tbf. You can guess my favourite Star Wars character pretty easily but i really took to Snoke in the last movie, such a bizarre decision to be frank, now installing Kylo Ren as the main villain. I can only buy that if they jettison the whole conflicted story line and make him a real Vader. Sort of like Anakin if he hadn't been maimed and burned. Still hoping that Anakin returns as a force ghost and the off chance that Snoke pulled the same trick that Luke did. Snoke was a bit meh in FA but was genuine sinister and charismatic in LJ, with the throne room scenes easily in the best so far in the new trilogy. As for all this talk of new trilogies that step outside the norms, at what point do you end up with something that isn't Star Wars if you stray too far. Star Wars IS tie fighters and x wings isn't it really. Change too much and you might as well call it Battlestar Galactica LOL. I'd rather see another dozen Death Stars again than that. It would be interesting to see the Old Republic era and see the early Jedi/Sith conflict. Or perhaps an extension of Rogue One where we get something from the pov of the Empire with a sympathetic imperial character and the rebellion clearly established from this angle as something more akin to ISIS. Something like a platoon of Stormtroopers who are fully on board with Vader & co (not traitors like Fynn) but aren't just portrayed as merciless killers.
