I had never before and have never since seen so many discarded season tickets and scarves! A truly awful night, if you look at the footage pitch maintenance has certainly improved since those days!

I was there with my four teenage mates in the Boothen. 40 years ago - where have the years gone ?
Totally expecting to win comfortably only for it all to go disastrously wrong. Unbelievable watching us lose and seeing and feeling the crowd reaction.
Most probably the worst result of my life as a Stoke fan, although there's plenty of terrible results and performances to choose from over the years.
Only Birmingham 0-7 comes close to it for me personally.

Not sure how we would have described it back then in that case...

I was there with my dad but was probably a little young and so the memory has faded. I was at both legs of the defeat by Telford and my best mate at the time was a Telford season ticket holder - no chance of forgetting that one!

Stood in the Telford end the away leg, lad I worked with at the time played for Telford, Billy Whitehurst

I was there with a couple of mates from Uni. One from Newcastle and one from Sheffield. Neither expected to see what we saw that night. I was down by the tunnel area. Boy did they get some abuse at the end.

I remember the disbelief (I was young!) when I was gazing on from the Butler St paddock and a days worth of incessant mockery of my schoolmates the following day - I really should have got round to seeing a psychiatrist about this !!!

I was there, in the Paddock. Still the lowest point (the match, not the Paddock). I still cringe when I hear Blyth Spartans mentioned on football results.

Yeah, back of the Boothen. I was a student in Wolverhampton in those days and spent the morning and early afternoon phoning Stoke to see if the game was going to go ahead because of a waterlogged pitch. It was, I came back up from Wolves and the rest is history as they say

Middle Boothen as an idialistic 16 year old . Really should have collected all the scarves etc that was thrown onto the pitch. made a fortune on ebay now Probably my worst feeling as a Stoke supporter as everthing at that age was way more important. My field of fucks at this present day ineptitude of idiocy is pretty much barren GD
