I'm getting 11 or 12 including Watford who now will have manager bounce. But there's plenty of other clubs who will struggle to get that many. Is the 40 points target redundant this season?

I think 35 is probably enough this year. There are 12 dreadful teams in the league this year. As long as we're a good 7/8 points clear by the time our difficult run comes around i think we'll be fine.

We need 17 for the magic 40. Let's have a look:
Watford (H) - 3 AFC Bournemouth(A) - 1 Brighton & Hove Albion(H) - 3 Leicester City(A) - 0 Southampton(A) - 1 Manchester City(H) - 0 Everton(H) - 1 Arsenal(A) - 0 Tottenham Hotspur(H) - 0 West Ham United(A) - 1 Burnley(H) - 3 Liverpool(A) - 0 Crystal Palace(H) - 3 Swansea City(A) - 1
17 points - 4 wins and 5 draws. Relax, it's done. Enjoy your summer break everyone.

15 points will see us safe. Let’s just get them as quickly as possible and be done with this relegation dogfight bollocks. Take it one game at a time, knowing that every one of our next five is very winnable. Unlikely that we’ll win five in the bounce, but that should be the immediate goal looking at who we’re facing.
Get through the next five and let’s see what we need from there.

Interesting point re: new manager bounce. I still think we will beat Watford... There's certainly no guarantee that they will suddenly turn up and beat us. New managers this season have seen varying results in their first games, but it's interesting to note that they have all come against mediocre/poor opposition thus probably skewing the overall ratio slightly:
Everton (Allardyce) - W 2-0 v Huddersfield West Ham (Moyes) - L 0-2 v Watford Palace (Hodgson) - L 0-1 v Southampton WBA (Pardew) - D 0-0 v Palace Swansea (Carvalhal) - W 2-1 v Watford Leicester (Puel) - W 2-0 v Everton Stoke (Lambert) - W 2-0 v Huddersfield

Was amazed that Watford still in 10th place despite losing 8 and winning only 1 of their last 11 games. We are only 3 points behind them showing how tight the bottom half is. By the end of Feb we could be in a much healthier position.

36 or 37 should be enough. However, we’ll need one point more than all those equal 18th unless our GD improves significantly. Apart from winning the 6 point relegation games, we have to avoid getting hammered by the teams in the top 6

I think we'll need to pull of at least one shock result, plus only slipping up once! I would like to see a determined midfield player come in, with pace!

Having done one of those league predictors, I have us finishing 15th on 34 points, with 30 points keeping you safe ???

This not a TP reference!!!!!! However he got absolutely slated on here when he was adamant that the initial goal for the season was 40 points for security
Other well known Managers tend to use the same language/sentiments.
The Premier League is splitting between a top six, mid table and the relegation candidates, with a huge gap between the top 6 and the middle pack
Please no TP points

Laugh if you will, but I have an idea we could go the rest of the season unbeaten, with the exception of Man City, because we'll have a much tighter defence!
Watford (H) - 3 AFC Bournemouth(A) - 3 Brighton & Hove Albion(H) - 3 Leicester City(A) - 1 Southampton(A) - 3 Manchester City(H) - 0 Everton(H) - 3 Arsenal(A) - 1 Tottenham Hotspur(H) - 1 West Ham United(A) - 1 Burnley(H) - 3 Liverpool(A) - 1 Crystal Palace(H) - 3 Swansea City(A) - 3
That would put us on, what, 52?
Yes I know it's hugely unrealistic but it's not dissimilar to what Leicester did towards the end of the season before they won the title. (I'm not saying we will win the title next year BTW).

Don't mind which 4 we win mind if we win 4 more we'll stay up.

26 more points 49 points total should make the top half. I'm being optimistic but not stupidly so

It will be April or even May before we get ours.

I reckon between 15-20, which would be plenty enough to see us safe. 10 wins in a season should be enough to keep you up, we need four more.
