◾Stoke have conceded 50 Premier League goals this season - five of the previous six sides who had conceded 50 or more goals at this stage of the season were relegated.
In all fairness it's not a great testimony to the £25 million we invested in 'shoring up' the defence in the summer recess in the form of £18m Kev Wimmer and the £7m loan of Zouma and the acquisition of Josh Tymon.
Not sure why people are sticking the boot in to Paul Lambert from the get-go who hasn't even started, none of this was his doing, although for sure its now his job to sort it out!

On the positive side, it doesn't get much worse

I'm struggling with Zouma and abandoned all hope for Wimmer at the moment , but until we get back to defending as a team that means every fucker doing their share also using our heds to sense danger , nothing will change,
I am sure Lambert will realise this unlike the last manager and we should see rapid improvements and maybe some wheeling and dealing , Stoke City cannot play with passengers no matter how talented they may be .
A hard working fit team can maybe carry one but no more and we always have two or three at least and dont have a hard working team .

Some of the goals we concede are laughable, some are world class, some are sort of bad luck (playing Man City away, on a perfect pitch with perfect weather rather than on a rainy day in January) and some seem 'criminal' (I'm thinking about players switching off and not concentrating). But our goal difference is so bad that it really doesn't matter this season ... PL has to fix our defence (or we really are doomed) and we already know that we need more points than at least three of the team's around us, relying on GD is suicidal at the best of times. We need wins and draws to stay up .... and I suspect that right now we would all settle for six 1-0 wins against our relegation rivals.

I think a combination of the 3 at the back experiment and the absence of Martins Indi have really been a problem for us. A back 4 of Pieters, Shawcross/Zouma, Martins Indi and Bauer (great debut!) should be more solid than we have seen. I was so impressed with Zouma's first few games, but he doesn't seem fully at the races recently. A loan player can't ever feel fully invested in a relegation scrap, even if he wants to help. It isn't his career on the line.

It'd be interesting to see if these 5 team actually had 20 points though.

I was at the game last night and poor Tymon. His time will come, but not yet. Pieters would and could have prevented at least one of those goals. News before united game was that Pieters and Martins Indi were in contention, so barring any setback you would think that means Erik is fit for Huddersfield. Bloody hope so!

Pieters, Martins Indi, Shawcross, Bauer has got to be the way forward for the moment. Would be nice for at least 1 game anyway before the inevitable injuries.

I think even we will struggle to convert that 50 into a century... I wonder if all the Erik detractors will be reading this and having second thoughts?

Erik is the only option to be fair but he can and should be improved upon in time.

Not an excuse in the slightest but Man Utd has nearly 50 shots against Burnley and Southampton and couldn’t hit a barn door, they go and put two straight in the top corner against us without creating any other chances.
They say if you can’t be good be lucky and we’re neither at the moment.....
