Really hard to tell, we're gonna have to start getting the players mic'd up NFL style.

I was watching the game and wrote a comment here, certainly he will be banned. I dont know what he said, be he made an expression for the African player that obviously means "your smell is shit".

If nothing then nothing should happen to Rodriguez. Pong just being a bad loser.

If that's all it is then hopefully the FA will ban the ref and Brighton player for being mardarses.

So was it like when Costa did it to Shawcross? If so then nothing should happen. I tried to find a video but I couldn't, It is a bit similar, I cant describe the differences well, but when I watched this one from Costa I understood what he means and he was pointing to his armpit, when I watched this one from Rodriguez I understood it in a different meaning. Even Costa had to be banned because he was not supposed to judge Shawcross or tell him his opinion in public "in case he really means it in the direct meaning".

It was probably a lame joke because his name is Pong. Dr Hesham probably doesn't know some people use 'pong' to describe something that stinks?!.. really don't see the issue.

Yes I didnt know that meaning for Pong before your explanation, and I dont know what Rodriguez means exactly, mostly they will investigate it and watch videos from different cameras. By the way here in Egypt we are not sensitive at all about colors because most of Egyptians are not white and not black.

I think this is utter bullshit myself. You could tell by Rodriguez's face at the time that he was horrified by Bong's accusations. I'm not saying Bong is making this up but there has to be a possibility that he misheard what Rodriguez said.
And how are the FA going to come to any conclusion if it's just one man's word against another? Without a 100% reliable witness or the evidence of a professional lip reader, I think we're going down kangaroo court territory here.

12 match ban seems about right If he simply said you stink then there would have been no action taken. Bringing his colour into it (if that's what he did) would make it racist. Has Rodrigues ever said to any player "you are white and you stink" - I don't think so.

If Rodriguez is guilty he should be hammered ..BUT If it’s proven he didn’t say it then Bong should be given the punishment Rodriguez would of received If it comes out he misheard Rodriguez then that is no defence as to accuse somebody of this he has to be 101% certain that’s exactly what he said and what’s he’s put Rodriguez through

As stated if it's true then he has to take his punishment however having been on the receiving end of such an allegation that was completely false I know the impact it has. Innocent until proven end of.

Trouble is though we've all seen that 'who me?' picture of innocence face many times before haven't we? I agree with the one word against the other aspect and I'm quite uncomfortable with it if that's all there is. You would hope therefore that there is a bit more to back up his version of events.

Is this currently considered a gross insult in elite football, accusing another player of being smelly? I seem to remember Costa doing something similar to Ryan a while back, and at the next opportunity Ryan sent Costa flying up in the air.

Is this another convenient way of players using the system to get key opponent club players a lengthy ban? After all if Rodriguez is banned, Brighton are relegation rivals of West Brom aren’t they? It isn’t just Bong who stinks it’s Premier League Football. In cricket it’s called sledging and players give as much as they ger and forget about it after the game!

Just like Costa faced no punishment when he implied Ryan smelled, I'm sure that, if that is all Rodriguez said, he won't face any punishment. It is the alleged use of the word black in the context of the insult which will have caused him to be charged.
