I have my opinion so do not try and influence it. That person who made a song about me I am flattered but it does not flow. Also, I am sure there are stronger words you can use to best describe me? I don’t see the issue here. The song is outdated, it does not motivate the players and it certainly does NOT intimidate the opposition fans But it's ok for you to try and influence everyone else's opinion. Ok then. Makes sense. How do you know it doesn't motivate the players? This group probably haven't heard it done properly. I'd argue the ones against Bolton in the Semi did provide some motivation, the players certainly responded in kind.

There you go again living in the past. It may do something for you but for motivating the players today, very questionable

Did you just ignore what I wrote about it being sung properly?

Yeah fuck tradition! while we're at it throw away that that bit of silverware we have to its outdated not even called the league cup anymore ;-)
I wasn't there when it all started, too young, but the song moves me not just when its sung at the game but when ever i hear it. Its part of Stoke City a part of me.
Yeah it sounds shit at the moment that's because of a few reasons; new fans don't get what it means to us, glory hunters from the vale and other teams who joined us when we came up to the prem, fans who get offended by its lyrics (it's a song get over it!) and the shit we have had to put up with over the last 18 months its seemed to of sapped our spirit.
It's a ours we shouldn't be getting rid of it we should be adding new songs to our repertoire so that Delilah isn't over used and remains our battle cry!

Can't imagine the players think much of Delilah in this day and age. Need more songs that speak directly to them and create a connection. Who gives a fuck what the players think? Delilahs for us not them Created in the Old Vic by us. Players & fickle supporters come and go but Delilah remains OUR song. Songs don't have to be all about the players, it's just a bit of a daft song though really isn't it. Whats new pussycat would make as much sense.

How does a song that promotes battering a women belong to the clubs history. If you want to get serious to what the song means then think about it intelligently. History is Stanley Mathews, Hudson, Stein, Cranston, Waddington & Boothen end. Not a song that lacks passion. Cranston ? ...your on a wind up

Right so what next ditch the red and white stripes and change our name to the stoke sharks because what we had in the past isn’t relavent anymore? Quite simply if you don’t want sing it don’t I will I have done since it came onto the terraces and will continue it until I no longer attend. As stated it’s supposed to be our goal celebration or the moment to pull us up from the doldrums. You tell us what’s your answer because unless you’ve got something better I’m going to continue to put my dick in Delilah’s hand every time I’m at a stoke game with gusto and relish and at the right speed as well. So in closing I think is right of me to respond with if you don’t like it fuck off down the vale Could I suggest because the way we're playing Stoke jellyfish

Good article until you let yourself down with the last sentence. For a club founded in 1863 both "we'll be with you" for the league cup in the 1970's and the more recent Delilah are hardly set in conctete traditions. Things evolve and I fully agree that Delilah is appropriate until something better replaces it. I agree if something else comes along I will join in I belt out we’ll be with you but it’s from before I was born but it’s part of us. We should be expanding not removing from our repertoire, Delilah was born from frustration and anguish and became our cry against it to become our anthem to a vast majority of us fans it was our battle cry against being shit we united in its chorus and shouted the odds like a bunch of welshmen at rourkes drift, it then grew into a thing of beauty under Macaris regime and has become our rallying cry ever since. Admittedly it has waned recently but it’s more to do with perhaps some of the newer fans not being born of the horrors we were subjected to and uniting under its lyrics as TJ climbed the floodlights but as pointed out earlier we it’s right it’s beautiful and intimidating to the opposition and us. Before the original poster started this thread perhaps he should have thought where Delilah came from and what it is to some of us it’s not to be witty or for the players to fawn it’s about them, it’s ours for no other reason than being born from hardship and it known lyrics by the guy who started it and we all joined in at the chorus. I hope more of us feel the same as me it’s our song because it is as a young stokie it moulded my support I will pick it out at karaoke I will sing it when it’s on the radio because no matter what it’s as much a part of stoke to me as the stripes as the Victoria ground as sir Stan and the other greats. We shouldn’t be removing it we should be ever more so now encouraging the newer fans to understand where it came from and what it means. Anyway rant over I’m off put my dick in the wife’s hand see what happens. Completely agree even about the wife. The big difference between us is that I am 71 and been supporting for over 60 years now, seen a lot come and go in that period including the centenary game in 1963. Lots of happy memories (Richie scoring 29 in a season etc) and a good few dissapointments but could never see me supporting anyone else. Trlk the wife to change hands occasionally 😁😁
