Apologies for the mundane thread, couldn't find the old jobs thread. We're after getting our garage converted into a hall / utility room and a separate study at the back and having no joy with companies and workmen listed on yell as they're either fully booked or just not returning calls, which is a good start.
But if anyone knows of someone that works in the trade and could complete a garage extension (would need plumbing into it also) before April, please let me know or let them know there's work immediately available.

mybuilder.com. Let them come to you. I've used it twice for a roofing job and also a plasterer. On both occasions I had a quick and fast response, the roofing (repoint chimney and remove and replace all ridge tiles) job was actually completed the next day for £450. Hope this helps as doing it through ringing around was a waste of time as nobody seemed to want to repoint the chimney.

I know what you mean about some of these tossers not even bothering to call you back. Clearly plenty of work on for them and no doubt will come crawling for work when another slump in the building trade comes along. I've found it so bad that if anyone has the courtesy to return a call they've more or less got my business.

Give this guy a call. He did my Kitchen and bathroom but also took out an internal wall, smashed out my outhouse to make the kitchen bigger and took out my downstairs toilet -again for more space in the kitchen. When he finished mine in November he was moving onto another job building an extension. So he does all sorts. He's an Asian chap called Mosin - 07426871987

Where abouts do you live Mrred? I know a few small builders who might be able to help you if the job is reasonably local to them. Its a pretty simple project for a builder but Northy is quite right about the importance of insulation to both the floor and probably the walls, and Building Control WILL insist that it is done properly.

The house is in Werrington, mate. But we've been let down by the mortgage company in the last few hours- haven't checked that the building regs are in place for 2 of the housing improvements that were made by the couple currently living there, so now we've got to wait for all that to get sorted.

As previously stated you will need building control (regs) approval, although now you can go to private inspectors rather than the local authority. If you need plans to send to the inspectors and recommendations for builders just drop me a message.
