...tonight on Talk Shite I think he made a very valid point He posed the question: "name any players that have improved at Stoke under the coaching of Mark Hughes" To be honest, I can't...and thereby hangs a big part of our problem

Grant and Butland, and that's probably because he doesn't spend much time coaching the keepers

...tonight on Talk Shite I think he made a very valid point He posed the question: "name any players that have improved at Stoke under the coaching of Mark Hughes" To be honest, I can't...and thereby hangs a big part of our problem Arnautovic Maybe...maybe he helped him calm down a bit, or maybe Arnie just matured as he got older, but I don't think he improved technically and was still a "one chance in six" level of conversion (as he showed for Wet Sham recently at our place). My ex colleagues in Bremen told me when he signed about his talent...and lack of maturity...

The players that were already here improved, especially Whelan, Nzonzi & Walters Yes I think just age and injuries caught up with Whelan and Walters in the end.

I seem to recall that Grant's best ever performance was his debut at Old Trafford...down hill from there

well yeah....
Got a better tune, at least doing stuff with the ball from a few he inherited. Whelan, N'Zonzi, Walters and I reckon Shawcross to an extent too.
Dropped Kenwynne to Cup duties and started to get some effort and goals from him too.
Thought Bardsley calmed down and played better here, maybe the same could be said of Pieters too?
Odemwingie?
Got Diouf firing for a time.
Arnie obviously and similarly he got Moses to work on his defensive side and that worked out well. Similar rewards of that with Shaq earlier this season. A bit more fight, consistency. A set up to play to his strengths, which he had some success with Bojan too.
Mixed bag.

Butlands regressed since he came back from injury and his confidence must have been knocked with the shower of shit in the back line in front of him - this was Hughes fault and Durham was spot on.....

Anyone got a link? Durham doesn't say much wrong to be honest.
But Yeah, Bojan was his strongest case. Struggled to find a place in the team, took him a side under his wing for a few months and bought back a fucking beast of a little player. One that looked like he could live up to the moniker 'The next Messi'. He was so fucking good.

Yeah id certainly say Walters and Whelan in his early years. As has been said, age caught up with them hence their drop in form last season

I must admit, I've seen Coventry's second goal a few times tonight, and Jack should've saved it. No doubt at all.

What bollocks (excuse language) he improved many players to some degree or another. If you said world beaters itβs a different answer but improved? Yes many senior and junior players.

Nzonzi, Arnie, Allen, Shaqiri, Bojan, Indi, Muniesa, Cameron, Walters looked better. Let's not rewrite history.

The entire team Pulis left behind. Apart from that no one. Should have left at the end of last season. Iβm starting to think that the maximum a manager should stay at the same club in the same league is 3 years.

the fact we improved markedly as a team for the first three seasons would suggest he improved many of the players he inherited as many constantly told us those players were not capable of better than they had shown.

And that is why Durham talks shite.

Iβm starting to think that the maximum a manager should stay at the same club in the same league is 3 years. Doesn't really work like that though does it? Every manager has a shelf life, I totally agree with that but you can't limit them all to 3 seasons. What would you say to Dyche at the end of the season at Burnley? "Great job and well done for finishing higher than we ever have done but you've got to go because you've been here too long, cheers though".. don't think so.
