Is this out most important window to date?
Stoke are now in, if my calculations are right, there 19th premier league transfer window and I would say we probably need 6-8 players, if we dont need them now. We will do in the Summer.
Jack will leave after the world cup
Weve needed 2 full backs for probably the last 20 years
Need a new CB to replace Zouma, and aging Shawcross and an unproven at this Stage Wimmer
Shaq will be gone, apart fron Allen out CM are aging. Probably need a proper winger. So lets say 3 midfielders
Its unclear how Berahino will perform under a new manager. So we need 1 or 2 strikers.
Why, and how have we got ourselves in this situation. Ive seen a lot of comments taking about a piss poor net spend and lack of ambition from the board. But we shouldn't be anywhere near the top for net spend. Nowhere near. The top 6 are always gonna spend more than us, the 3 new promoted sides should be spending towards the top to be at a competing level. Then the sides promoted in the previous seasons should also be spending to catch up. In fairness spending 50M is probably too much. After 10 years of being in the premeirship why arent we producing academy players, why arent we cashing in on players for big profits (OK you can argue we have done with Arnie) other teams around us have been doing?
Who is to blame for the thinbear, aging, and not particularly good squad. Who needs to take the flack for this.
Over the next two windows we need to get the best possible deals for Shaq and Butland (I believe they could bring in £75M between them) invest a similar amount and rebuild.
