Pretty sure I heard him say that to Danny Kelly on Talksport yesterday after the match and subsequent sacking... Will try and find the audio and will edit the post and add the link if I do find it. Was a candid interview..
Must make you wonder how the owners went from "what's all the fuss about" to "Scared to death" in the space of 3 weeks! Bit extreme change of view wouldn't you say fella's?
Gotta wonder if Coates was the one keeping the faith, or do we get told porkies constantly by the club? Maybe they have been sounding out replacements since the Lap of Dishonour last season? I have a feeling even PC gave up on him after that shambles Saturday

They have no-one else to blame other than themselves.
Their policy of frugality and blind faith has come back to not just bite them on the arse, it’s taken their whole leg off.

The ‘what’s all the fuss about’ statement was clearly to calm everything down publicaly. Behind the scenes I think PC was panicking and eyeing up suitable replacements but secretly hoping Hughes could turn it around.
The Chelsea and Newcastle games for me had made up the boards mind. The Cov result was irrelevant, Hughes was to go no matter what the score, I just think they wanted to go into that cup tie with a manager at the helm, albeit for the very last time.
I honestly don’t think there’s a change from ‘what’s all the fuss’ to ‘scared to death’, the latter has always been the truth, it was just hidden from us and the media.

This is why I was so shocked after hearing his and Hughes' comments previously. So nonchalant about the situation. Hughes "doesn't do relegation" what a crock of shite.
It's almost like they'd been watching a different game to us fans every week...but we already knew that!

Scared to death of relegation but do fuck all to prevent it from happening.
How Tony Scholes is still in a job is mind boggling.

We're all scared to death of relegation. I'm just hoping whoever comes in is capable and gets us playing like an organised outfit. It's needed immediately.

If you’re right then how fucking insulting from the owners, do they think we are blind or stupid? Why not just do a very odd thing and be honest! I sincerely hope that Coates gets his head out of his arse now and starts getting a grip of Stoke City

Truth is they should be, and it's their fault we're on the verge.
We'll survive IMO and I hope it gives them a huge kick up the arse....doubt it though.
Personally wouldn't make a difference to me which league we were in, but they're obviously thinking of their pockets. Wouldn't fancy us to come back up for a long, long time.

Premier league football is about fine margins
You cannot train 10 per cent less hard than other teams, run 12 per cent less etc and be winners
If they thought that would work out okay, than they are a lot dim

Oh fear not he has new depths of hypocrisy , incomptence and arrogance to plunge just yet imagine the cost cutting speech the day after relegation , the need to consolidate in the championship , the fire sale of playing assets to arrange ., the journey men loans and free transfers to make up a playing squad . our only hope Just might be Denise might just have a view on the wisdom of banking a profit this summer in exchange for the loss of £200m turnover in the next two years

If they are scared they will make sure we buy the midfielders we need.
Even Coventry exploited that huge hole in our team yesterday

We're all scared to death of relegation. I'm just hoping whoever comes in is capable and gets us playing like an organised outfit. It's needed immediately. I'm really not. If relegation happens it happens, if not it's a bonus. This season has really drained me of all emotion. Too many drubbings maybe, I don't know. All I do know is if we start next season in the Championship it would be like a new challenge with some cracking away days.

You be gotta feel it's all too late and should have happened a long time ago if they are that scared. Even if we bring in someone early next week he's got very little time to assess the squad and dip into the transfer market and turn us into a team that can defend and win the odd game. With having still to play the top 5/6 sides we've probably got about 10 games to pick up enough points to survive.... it's a big ask.

It's a big ask going off the last 5 games but a new man brings fresh hope & 2 wins changes the outlook. We are only 3 points off mid table, other clubs are in this too not just us
