We had 59% possession today, which tells you how good Newcastle weren't. And we still didn't score. That must raise our season possession stats up to, I dunno, almost 40%.

The stats don't lie, to be honest. Newcastle didn't really set up to control the game; they set up to counter. They were more than happy to let us dither with it at the back and occasionally hoof it up to Crouch. Once they had the ball they hit us with pace, and absolutely rinsed us down our left wing in the first half - should have scored at least one goal doing it.
