If he said it before it's almost worse given that he went on to neither play for stoke city or his manager. In truth, Shaqiri plays only for himself, normally when it suits him to do so Almost all players in the top flight are in it for themselves, no loyalty like years ago. I feel sorry for young un's who get attached to players who don't stay long. My lad had Arnie printed on back of shirt, also has Shaq and Jack and they may well be off too. you'll have to get wimmer printed on his next shirt

He said that in a Sky interview I saw this morning If he said it before it's almost worse given that he went on to neither play for stoke city or his manager. In truth, Shaqiri plays only for himself, normally when it suits him to do so Shaqiri was our star player at the beginning of the season- four goals and four assists in about 10 games. He’s lost confidence in the manager because he sees him for what he is - totally out of ideas.

If that’s true for all players then the playing field (no pun intended) is level for all teams and it’s on the manager’s shoulders to get them playing together as a team. You can’t tell me Hughes has bigger egos to deal with than any other manager.

So he improves Blackburn and Fulham, gets no credit for it but after he's gone he's at fault for their future decline? OK. The 9th place finishes are in the past, and have no bearing on the present. I want him gone as much as you, I just don't need to make shit up about how bad he was for Blackburn and Fulham when he clearly wasn't. His only purple patch over a decade since and more to do with Uncle Jacks legacy than all his own work - Sacked by Citeh after pissing 10s of millions up,the wall, a short and inauspicious and fractious spell at Fulham where he just left them in the lurch and a clusterfuck at QPR - again spunking £ms on bizarre signings. Then on to us - more of the same - some decent spells and signings but then all unravels as it always does for him - I'm sure he's a nice bloke but he's not a very good manager ...... You seem to be struggling a bit with what I'm saying. I'll help you. You originally said: " Hughes doing what he has done throughout his managerial career - ok for a couple of seasons followed by rapid declines with no idea how to turn things around". I pointed out that your statement is not true. You've now admitted he had a 'purple patch' at Blackburn. At Fulham, he left them in 8th place, the following season they finished 9th without him and weren't relegated for another 2 seasons. Long after he had gone. Are you still standing by your original statement that at every club bar Man City, he was ok for a couple of seasons then had a rapid decline? I understand you think he's shit, and as it's your opinion I can't argue. But it's ok to admit your original post was made up bullshit.

It doesn't matter which way we are going as far as this argument is concerned. Stating that Hughes was to blame in any way for Blackburns relegation (4yrs after he left) or Fulhams (3 yrs after he left) is pure fucking made up nonsense.

I seem to remember Hughes's high cost signings at QPR were dictated by the chairman Tony Fernandes with Hughes having little or no say in them.

Fulham spent three more years in the Premier League after Hughes left and Blackburn (who were taken over by the totally inept Venkys) had another four years. How an earth is Hughes responsible for their relegations? Stick to the facts. He's responsible for this mess.

I’m sad to see Sparky’s decline because he did do well for us for 2 1/2 seasons. In fact he had us playing the best football I’ve ever seen us play.
I also don’t see the need to dismiss his previous managerial career just because it’s going badly now.
The telling statement in the press conference was when he said that we’d had three 9th placed finishes and he hadn’t changed what he was doing. Wake up Sparky, Football has changed. The top teams are relying in high pressing and pace, by which I mean speed of players and speed of ball movement. This system cannot cope with it which is why we get slaughtered by teams that do it best.
We are dying for lack of evolution.
So, with regret, “Hughes Out”

If it makes you happy - I remain of the opinion that his whole managerial career has been unimpressive and looks better than it really is and his malign legacy casts a long shadow over clubs he has managed........as we are finding out to our cost ......

I'm not sure that's fair tbh. Blackburn were as safe as houses until the mental chicken farmers got involved and decided Fat Sam wasn't exotic enough for them. Fulham were holding their own until the disastrous appointment of the Penfold lookalike. QPR is /was a complete shambles -though clearly Hughes wasn't without blame..although it's worth remembering Genius Harry had 6 months to save them and never got close. We are in a mess and Hughes has to go ..only time will tell whether another manager can actually do any better under the samr circumstances he is working in.
