Just watching the BBC review of 2017 music - what the hell happened - IT'S SHIT. Thinking about it most music has been crap for 3 or 4 years - or am I just getting old. Whatever happened to Rock?

Tbf it was a review of the mainstream year wasn't it?!.. Although, I was glad they highlighted Declan Mckenna, very talented young lad with a great debut album this year.

Most music has been shit since they sank Radio Caroline and we stopped listening to Luxembourg on longwave. Growing up in the 60s and 70s I feel spoiled.......and very very old. Walking around with hair like this and flared trosers wasn't easy but the music was life

Think this might be the highlight for me.
At the risk of repeating myself, this Director shot a whole film around one of her songs...

She did an impromptu visit to the local's acoustic night, blew us away, solo acoustic. In-played-went, {with her dad} didn't really catch her name... though someone had noted it on their phone, but it was nowt like Onyda. it clicked when I heard it on the show and googled. Transpires she played Glastonbury just after the Sportsman! There was some really good tunes on, he put a 'mixtape' of Staffordshire sounds, no introductions, band names or owt' for the second half of the show... there were things I liked which may have been All The Young, and think I heard the Blue Collars... I'll have another look. Basically, just saying, seems the local musical youth are quite good.

I've listened to the BBC Stoke slot on a few occasions and to be fair most of the tracks played are decent

What do you mean by wench? not a fan? Slow burner, I like this track. I've had one serious listen to her. Any recommends?
From long experience I don't rule anything out.....this year The National and War on drugs have got right under my skin after years of listening to the odd track

My album of the year although, I do love a bit of Lorde try, 'Supercut' 'Homemade dynamite' & 'Perfect places' from the current album.. unlike most "pop stars" she actually writes/co writes her songs and isn't afraid to sound different so that gives her more credit with me. I'm with you on The National and War on Drugs, spent years loving the odd tune but I have to say I really like the War on Drugs album and think it's a continued improvement on their previous effort. The National?.. I'm still in the same boat, like a few of the songs but some don't do it for me.

I had a chat to the lad and although he's not familiar with her music he did say that he likes Royals and Green Light. The latter is a decent track.
