Is he fit? Can he play a defensive midfield role? If so I would get him in on Sat and tell him just to run his legs off.

He’s a number 10 I think? And didn’t enormously stand out on loan at Conference Wrexham.

Unfortunately I think it’s clear now that this lad isn’t going to make it at Stoke. Same age as Ramadan and Ngoy, older than Edwards and Tymon. We don’t give youth enough of a chance but these boys have still had more of a look in than Shenton. In my opinion he’s being kept on because he’s a local lad.

. In my opinion he’s being kept on because he’s a local lad. He's being 'kept on' because he's one year into a fairly lucrative (for his age) 4 year contract. I don't know whether he's good enough or not but its another very odd looking decision from the powers that be.

Souttar at the back then and Cameron doing his bit in front of the back line then? This is getting ridiculous for a PL ‘squad’. Putting Charlie or Affeley into a side that is going to have to defend for its life to protect our dignity is a nightmare scenario.

He’s still young enough for things to click but it’s not looking promising as you’d imagine he’d be doing ok on loan at a league club by this point to stand a chance of becoming a first teamer for us.

Hughes don't look like the right man to manage it with the youth

He played a little at left back at Wrexham and there have been times this season when I thought he couldn't possibly do worse at lwb than the man who was Urias there.

Too much of a home boy (not unsurprising given he lost his mother at an early age) and not prepared to go too far on loan because of it.
Had been offered to SPL Clubs and League One clubs but turned them down because of the distance.

They all look so unfit to me they have no energy or tempo in there play either which you need in this league as a minimum.

Yup you see it in every other team we play in the league younger, fitter, stronger, faster, more mobile, keeping going for the full 90+. Watching us is just painful.

Unforunately there has been no one that (Wilko apart) has come through and is worthy of a place in a Premiership team and i put Edwards in that category. For too long our academy has been underfunded, dismissed and poorly run and our scouting staff would struggle at Wheres Wally. Its light years away from other academies thanks to the likes of Pulis completely ignoring it.

You can blame Pullis for a lot but the academy not turning players out,the academy is run by the club not the manager. He did say young players were on stupid contracts even before they have done anything, this makes them idle. And I agree 17 year old lads with Range Rovers just because they kick a bag of wind, they don’t even do ground duties anymore. We were made to clear all the litter up on the Monday after a game, and make sure there was plenty of hot water for the pros after there training session, then we would train and have no hot water, even on aThursday when we played 11 v. 11 only the first team players could use the baths first we had to pick up all the kit take it to the laundry room then clean all the boots.Did not make it past the A team but would not of changed my two years watching my heroes training and drinking.

George Waring was another of Shenton's ilk, but after loans at 6 league clubs he joined Tranmere in the summer on a 2 year deal, played a whole 3 games and yesterday I saw him come on as a very late sub for Halifax at Macclesfield, and after coming on I don't think he touched the ball
Doing well as a youngster is almost impossibly hard these days, not like the 70s/80s where each week you'd read about the likes of Crooks, Heath, Chapman, Bracewell, Bould doing a great job in the Reserves, knocking on the door of the first team and then getting that golden chance.

I'm pretty sure Ngoy has had loans offered to him but turned them down as he wanted to get his chance with the first team.
