Never mind all this gubbins about team selection. What kit do you reckon?
I suppose it will have to be the stripes with red socks but this is tricky because Huddersfield's kit is similar to ours with the dominance of white in it. Typical that we go for a blue away kit in a season with three sides in the same league that wear blue and white stripes.
There. I feel better for that. I can get on with wrapping those last pressies and finish off santa's sherry and mince pie.

......................Butland...................... Edwards.........Zouma......Shawcross.........Wimmer ................Allen......Cameron................. Ramadan................Shaq..................Choupo .......................Diouf....................... Very hard on Crouchy, but easier to play for counter attacks with Diouf on top. Think Diouf is our fastest player too. Subs: Tymon, Souttar, Afellay, Fletcher, Adam, Jese, Crouch, Berahino. You can’t have 8 subs. Also you’ve forgotten we need Grant on the bench. 😀 You're so right about Grant, the rest is really what we could pick from.

Butland
Edwards Zouma Shawcross Wimmer (unless Pieters is fit)
Cameron Allen
Shaq Choupo Ramadan
Saido.
What will be will be. It's boxing day football so I'm going to get pissed and just enjoy the day and support the lads. Come on Stoke!

Massive massive game. Hughes has to go if we don’t get a positive result.
Butland
Edwards Shawcross Zouma Pieters (if fit)
Cameron Affelay (close with Adam let’s get some creativity) Allen
Shaqiri Berahino Choupo

similar to the OP, but i'm going for a 442 Butland Edwards ShawX Zouma Wimmer Shaq Allen Cameron Choupo Diouf Saido Swapping formations in the second half and the introduction of Afellay, Ramadan and 'possibly' crouch at the end if we need it Agreed but with Saido & Crouch up top

It's not like me to exude any positivity but I have the feeling the psychology of this game is good for us.
Huddersfield are sitting in 11th place in the table, way above their highest expectations and notionally comfortable at what is exactly the half way point in the season.
It is of course also the big Boxing Day festive match for them and a time for reflection. For this reason I think subconsciously there will be an air of quiet satisfaction and indeed almost celebration among their home fans which will transfer itself to the players who may be in a similarly festive 'job half done' mood.
We need to drive a coach and horses through what may be a mood of self satisfied back slapping and walk off with the points.
Any victory and we draw level with them, win by a 2 goal margin and their goal difference advantage will be gone and I think we would be ahead of them on goals scored.
Huddersfield 0 Stoke City 2

Macari was in charge of Huddersfield last time we played them. Strange. I have no recollection whatsoever of him managing them.

In fact 34/90 is probably well above our win percentage since 1888. It's also almost twice our win percentage of 5/19 for this season. (corrected)

Macari returned to management in 2000 with Huddersfield Town who were in relegation trouble after a poor start to the season. He could not prevent them from being relegated from Division One at the end of the 2000–01 campaign. Macari managed to steady the ship in 2001–02 and lead the club into the Second Division play-offs as the Terriers looked to bounce straight back up. However they were defeated by Brentford in the semi finals. Macari's contract was not renewed for the next season with Huddersfield's board stating his defensive style of football as the reason. This was to be Macari's last managerial role.

Joe Allen HAS to play further up. He's our biggest goal threat. He is wasted playing deep, absolutely wasted. When he plays in behind the striker he gets in the right positions in the box, even more so than any of our strikers.

That’s Hughes’s dilema: how does he fit Allen and Shaqiri in the center of mid-field?

If he has any sense and he has he'll play exactly the same team as West Brom. It worked. Why anyone would want Berahino in is bizarre. What for? Goals?
