Well, if he does end up in Canada, it'll sort of piss on the theory that he was homesick, won't it?

Even though he was poor he played his part?? The fact he was on the bench meant that when he came on the opposing defence had to be on their toes? Compare that to Parkin coming on? The opposition would have committed another man up front!!!

Just having a quick look at the Toronto team and its intersting how many ex-English based players play for them!! Was really surprised to see the likes of Danny Dichio, Carl Robinson, Laurent Robert, Jim Brennan, Oliver Tebily even Rohan Ricketts!!

midfielder- that is an interesting assortment!
Former Newcastle coach John Carver is their manager
Danny Dichio...remember when we were linked with him a couple of years ago? How times change!!
Aren't Toronto a newly formed side over there?

I know we'd all rather live in Toronto than Stoke.....
But surely a Toronto move for Ameobi is totally unworkable.
It's not as if he's a genuine marquee name who'll really add to the marketability of the franchise, or the league.
And it's surely not feasible for them to offer a salary even remotely comparable with what we (or even Glenn Rodent) could offer him?

Gents,
As a season ticket holder (the only way I could get ANY tickets this year) at Toronto FC, I can tell you that you don't need to be a 'big name' as the stadium is sold out for every home game. 20,000 seater and it's not big enough!
This is the second season in the MLS for Toronto. Last year was a bit of a mess as we only had a small squad, but this season is shaping up nicely. Dichio was quality last year and scored the first ever goal for TFC.
Beating the Galaxy in LA 3-2 has to have been the highlight so far. Ricketts & Robert have been great signings.
Carver is now the boss after Mo Johnston moved 'upstairs'.
I could see Ameobi fitting in VERY nicely over here as Carver likes to play with a big target man. In fact, Toronto's style of play this year has been very English 'up and at em' and played at a fast pace.
As for the salary, well it is true there is a wage cap in the MLS for each team. This means that the budget has to be split between the players accordingly but each team can have two designated players who can get more money. For the Galaxy it's obviously Beckham and Donovan. I think Toronto has space for one more designated player so Ameobi may fit in that spot.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out........
Glenn

Frazier37:- Since when did Porkin score?
He couldn't score in one of the many brothels of this fine City, unless he was on a burger bonus.
