Great guy but surely he should be our plan b or plan c now. Bring him on 10 mins from the end if needed but we desperately need more pace up front.

Bringing him on with 20mins to go should be our plan A.
Why not use his ability?
While I don't want us starting with him leaving his talents on the bench is just a waste. He can change a game and game changers are hard to find.
15 - 20 mins when they are tired let him have a go at them. Not only will he be a nightmare for them at that stage of a game it will force their manager into a change to cope with him. (use up a sub)
Doesn't have to be every game but he could do his job for a few more years yet if used wisely.

Good decision to play him today in my opinion
He was good at holding the ball up - just needed a team mate nearer to him on occasions and a massive plus in defence
West Brom were uncomfortable with him on the field
Agree off the bench is a very good option for most games
Certainly needs to start against Coventry who have little height in their defence

Didn't he assist our first and most vital goal?

Dunno why but I expected Saido & Diouf to start up front in a 442. I didn't expect us to lump it against WBA unless we had to.

Every negative crouch thread starts with "great guy but" - as if Hughes picks him for his crowd surfing at Kasabian abilities
He's still a quality player
Crossed the ball for the first goal - it was incisive Got back to do some good clearances when we under the set piece cosh at 2-1

Whilst it was an assist let's not call Crouch's shanked shot a cross

I thought he played well today. I'm happy for a mix of starts and last 20-30 minutes for him, with more emphasis on the latter.
I'd like Crouch and Berahino to start against Coventry, with a pretty much full strength side behind them. Maybe drop Fletcher for a game. I wouldn't even play Grant.

Love Crouchy but love him more as a 'game changer' hope we get some pace up front Jan.
