At the moment the reality is that we have to score at least two or in reality three goals in a game to pick up one or three points! We are clearly finding it extremely difficult to create goal chances. So what cavalry can we call on to get us out of this nightmare:- Affelay, Adam, Imbula, Ireland, Johnson, Fletcher, Wimmer, Crouch, Diouff, Sobhi, Muniesa and Bojan. Surely these players are just not up for or good enough for the battle ahead. Next to Swansea we are the worst team in the league! Our hope lies with Butland, Shawcross, Zouma, Indi, Pieters, Allen, Berahino, Jesé and Shaqiri. Is there anyone out there can say they really believe these players are going to turn us round?

I think we will win on Saturday and a point at Huddersfield. We will slowly dig ourselves out of this situation. Any three teams from the bottom ten could go down. If you look at the last five games form guide its not only us who are shit at the moment.

I've absolutely no confidence whatsoever in the current regime and team to turn things around. Hughes has had all last season and almost half this season and all we've seen is a steady but continual decline with no apparent sign of any improvement in results or team performance. If we keep Hughes any longer than this weekend, irrespective of the result against West Brom, then IMO we are going to be relegated.

Surely these players are just not up for or good enough for the battle ahead. The players you list have a massive number of international caps between them and experience across the top leagues in Europe as well as a decent amount of Champions League experience. A few of them are towards the end of their careers (Adam, Crouch, Fletcher, Ireland, Johnson) but most are still capable - perhaps Johnson’s legs have gone and who know how Ireland has recovered. A few of them are not even at the club this season. I think we will dig ourselves out of this mess but I think Hughes will go at the end of the season. He has tried something new this season with the new formation but it has backfired. I don’t think Hughes was properly backed in the summer with transfers, possibly down to the way previous big money transfers have turned out but nonetheless we needed to strengthen and we didn’t do it sufficiently. Hughes should have made some serious noise about it in the summer as ultimately he is going to be the one who loses his job if he can’t turn this around.

I think he has proved this season that last seasons decline was not a flash in the pan/blip, his players don't appear to give a shit and he keeps trotting out the same old bullshit after every loss, should have gone in the summer we are reaping what we sowed now.

And what is your optimism based on Smallthorner? It's more realism than optimism actually. Think there will be at least three or four worse teams than us at season end. Think that Sparky will do his usual trick of putting a decent run together in later stages of season. Don't get me wrong... we are not going to be playing scintillating football and it will not make for attractive viewing. But reckon we've got enough in the locker to survive.
The importance of this weekends game cannot be stressed enough though.

It's like six-pointer Saturday this weekend. Few crucial matches between bottom ten strugglers.

Like last weekends game ! you know the one where we got dicked at home by West Ham after rolling over again when we went two down, we look what we are a disorganised group of individuals with little or no leadership on or off the field.

If you are not winning games you stop goals going in. No excuse for a top level manager failing to organise a defence

Two of the teams below is are improving and we're just getting worse, not a chance we'll be getting 4pts out of the next 2 games.

This weekend fixtures don't exactly go in our favor either all the teams around us play each other so the excuse of "only a win from mid table" will quickly evaporate huddersfield in 11th are 5 points ahead with the others being 2 points ahead worst case scenario saturday is those mid table teams win we become further adrift from mid table leaving us pretty much scrapping for 16th, 17th.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Watford Southampton vs Huddersfield Town Swansea vs Crystal Palace West Ham vs Newcatsle

Ok I've read what you're saying. Why are we deluding ourselves most of us agree we're pretty wank and whoever the manager is has a big job on their hands. Next to Swansea we're the worst team in the league shouldn't be too surprising next to Swansea we're the most reluctant to spend money.
