Massive fan of Beane's achievements at Oakland in an albeit completely different sport.Didn't the Fenway group try to adapt 'sabremetrics' to formulate transfer policy at Liverpool,(John W Henry being an admirer of Beane's methods,) with very indifferent results? Will be interesting to see what results his methodology produces if it's applied to the academy/youth set-up at Barnsley, could well end up putting ours to shame?!

The youth set up at the local derby and Joan club puts ours to shame.

Very strange one, unless they are using it as a dry run for a bigger club, can't see what they can get out of it, Barnsley will never be a big club to drain money from.

would it be Barnsley was a cheap option? They could turn it into a mini version of Southampton, develop good players and sell them on whilst trying to remain a top flight club (I'd assume that's where they want to be)

Mayor of Barnsley is said to be "over the moon" that his town has a new owner with loads of money to spend on civic improvements...so much so that they threw the local football club in for free

Barnsley are being sold cos the owner has terminal cancer and wants to sell up to see out his days with his family. Quite sad when you see that cos he's been there for 13 years.

I wonder if it was the same people that wanted on board at the Bet365🤔 Glad Coates told them where to get off if so, doesn't sound like they're going to be investing in big money players like the Wolves owners have just speculating on unproven players. Probably an ok idea for them but we'd need massive investment from the get go not some growth project.
