Who says the Ashton one has come from the club? It would be an odd thing for him to put his name from if it came from nowhere. It's just generally not a very healthy sign that you've got contradictory rumour swirling around the club like this. I don't think it necessarily came 'from nowhere' either...

It's been caused by the vacuum caused by the board not making any clear sensible noises or taking any firm action.

I doubt he would want to work with Scholes or Cartwright again and that may be a big problem in any negotiation
We could just get Gerry Francis back in to coach the defenders , that would make a difference

The board need to decide who they think is best placed to keep the club in the PL, if they take notice of fans on The Oatcake or Twitter and decide policy on the hoof then we're in big trouble.

It's just generally not a very healthy sign that you've got contradictory rumour swirling around the club like this. It might not have originated at SCFC. The journo might have bumped into TP ... Journo: "Hey up Tone, there seems to be a bit of specualation around that a third stint at Stoke might be on the horizon for you, would you actually be interested?" TP: "Well it'd certainly be emotional if I did." Journo: "Has there actually been any contact Tony." TP: "Well you'll just have to wait and see but I'd be a liar if I said that Peter and I haven't spoken recently." Journo thinks he has enough for a story.

Relegation by design it is then 👎 As no other manager has ever saved a club from relegation, you're right. It's Pulis or we're down. I wonder how the other 19 clubs will avoid relegation... he can't manage them all, can he?

I’ll most definitely sell my season ticket if Pulis comes back. I’d rather get relegated. You've got to find someone to buy it first There's likely to be plenty on offer

I think sticking with Hughes is the safest bet and I think Coates does, but Chairman of football clubs very rarely go against fans protests, so anything is possible.

Everyone else is an educated guess and if our signings are anything to go by it's best not to take an educated guess if pulis will come back. Get the man that WILL do it. Rubbish Pete & I thought for a moment you lot were growing some.👎

Why is everyone suddenly believing Dorsett when his track record around transfer windows is about the same as Hackett? I'll wait for John Percy before going full on loco. For now, i'll just simmer away in the background.

Its the word on the streets of dudley too so i hear! Gotta be true then. Not one for looking backwards myself. 3 stints is ridiculous. I respect pulis but no thanks. Look forward stoke and lets not live in the past So we should forget three ninth place finishes ? Yes Let's have a bloody party we finshed 9th 9th is piss all you win piss all for ninth All it amounts to is a few more millions in that pile of wank that masquerades as alleged footballers pockets Then they would get for being 10th 11th ect

Isnt tp nailed on to come back if dorsett says otherwise?
What dorsett knows, generally, could be written on a postage stamp.

Yes, of course. But so could somebody else. Some of our fans are being blinded by the romance of a third coming - if any other manager had an identical record to Pulis, but no historic links to the club, they wouldn't be screaming his name. He has failed both in the past and recently, just as much as Hughes is failing now.

Geoff what makes you think Hughes is the safest bet , we have been on a downward spiral for a good 18 months . He's turned these situations around previously. He knows the squad best. His pride must be hurt and he will want to prove the doubters wrong. He has a good working relationship with the Chairman. The only name being put forward as a replacement is probably not viable. If a new man is identified it might take weeks to get him in. Above all the players still back him.

I think sticking with Hughes is the safest bet and I think Coates does, but Chairman of football clubs very rarely go against fans protests, so anything is possible. So you're preparing the groundwork for it to be the fans' fault if Hughes goes are you Geoff? How many more defeats would it take for him to take any responsibility for this? You said a while back if he lost the next five Coates will can him. We're three into that run now...

Look forward stoke and lets not live in the past So we should forget three ninth place finishes ? Haha you can interpret my words however you like. I think you know exactly what i mean. The future, a fresh face with fresh ideas. It has nothing to do with league positions or historical stats. I mean what football club in their right mind would re-employ a bloke they have got rid of twice.

If he loses Saturday he would still need 24 points from 19 games to keep the club up, he's done that before. If Hughes is sacked that's the responsiblity of the board, not the fans.
