Pretty superficial knowledge of what's been going on.
Oliver Kay from the Times probably had the best take - but the blokes from the Sun and the People had a very cursory grasp - and advocated sticking with him

They're so far off the mark it's untrue!
"Stoke play a positive brand of football" "Hughes has had a bad few months- shouldn't be sacked based on this" "Stoke more than matched Liverpool the other week" "We should stick with Hughes"
It's amazing how out of touch they are.

You might as well ask national football journalists to discuss nuclear physics in terms of their insight into the topic.

All tired old cliches were trotted out weren't they?
If the subject isn't one of the top five or six clubs, they're clueless.

Be thankful that the panel consists solely of journalists and not the media in general, otherwise we may have had Robbie Savage exhorting the brilliance of Our manager for the rest of the programme😪

I know he's a twat at times but Adrian Durham hit the nail on the head yesterday before the game. Everything he said about us and Hughes at this current time was spot on and one of the few people in the media who seems to have actually looked deeper into the mess we're in than just the scores.

Can you explain why they might be right, our football is negative, Hughes has had a bad 18 month's, we matched Liverpool what was the result, we should stick with Hughes why should we ?

National media are like the popular kids in an American high school when one of the lesser known kids gets diagnosed with cancer or something, all of a sudden they know everything about them and they've been best friends since forever
They're all full of shit, not knowing much about our situation but they see the chat about it gaining traction and don't want to miss out on it, so they reel off generic shit that means nothing just to get in on it
Anyone who thinks that Hughes has done a good job recently and shouldn't be sacked should be asked their thoughts on Puel, Ranieri, Koeman and Bilic, promptly asked why Hughes should keep his job even though performing similarly or worse than them and then be promptly told to fuck off

You might as well ask national football journalists to discuss nuclear physics in terms of their insight into the topic. The Sunday Supplement lot haven't a clue but in fairness, every time we're mentioned on podcasts like Football Weekly and the Totally Football Show, the vast majority of journalists on the show say they can't believe Hughes is still in the job.

'In your opinion' - always thought that 'opinions' are what this forum is about? Who is to say that their opinion is better or truer than another? You can say that you don't agree with an alternative viewpoint but that's all.

You can say that you don't agree with an alternative viewpoint but that's all. If I can butt in here a minute. Clint Eastwood said 'opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one" When it comes to opinions about our football club, most of the media do not have a clue, and the opinion of someone who watches every minute of most games is far more valuable than people who don't which includes a lot of the 'keyboard warriors' on here. Clive Clarke on Signal gave a pretty good summery prior to yesterdays game Can you relate the main points? Shape of the team. commitment of the players, Hughes transfer policy, pretty hard hitting for local radio. He also made the point, he was going to say it how he found it, not like 'others' and report what the club would allow/like
