In today's Sentinel the Chairman dismisses talk of sacking the Manager.
I've heard it all now.

Looks like he’s saying that we were awful last season & survived, so he’s hoping for the same outcome this year.
It’s very concerning that th hierarchy don’t seem to see any problems with what has been produced for the past 2 years.

It’s an astonishing quote that really uncovers just how deep the complacency and lack of ambition at the club runs.

Must admit, I was a bit taken aback by this quote, that obviously just slipped out.
Can imagine that he just intended to give a beige supportive line or two - but this really suggests he's narked about the strength of the 'Hughes Out' talk and not remotely close to getting his axe out.

The only way the message is going to get through to the hierarchy is if we vote with our feet and voices, it will NOT look good for the 365 brand if the team they put in all of their campaign has a fan base outraged and vocally unimpressed with the management.
Pathetic, I feel like the fans of Blackburn when Steve Kean wouldn't piss off!
COATES GET THE MESSAGE!

Unbelievable !
This is so far removed from seeing the truth of the situation.
Between Coates and Hughes they will see us relegated this season.
Totally deluded !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fucking hate being a Stoke Fan right now, and a football fan in general. We stay loyal through thick and thin, the only one constant, and we get shat on!
Its fucking bollocks.

Remember the Bradford game in 97 on TV when the fans didn't take their seats until 10 minutes in?
When are we next on TV? 😎

I think it’s more likely we have no succession plan whatsoever and we’re just blindly pressing on and hoping for the best.

It would be interesting to know if Bet365 have taken a lot of bets on the next Manager to fall of the Merry go Round , and maybe they may need to wait for another head to roll first, as I am sure MH must be a current favourite!
Bit like a jockey also being a Bookmaker 🙄

If Coates had said that the whole thing was very worrying and we were in a relegation scrap and that the manager had to prove himself quickly, then I think he would have made the problem a lot worse.
What he says and what he thinks are likely to be somewhat different.

Peter Coates is trying to defend his manager, but it's likely everyone at the club is feeling the pressure, in any case whatever he says Hughes has to start winning games and quickly and the Chairman knows that.

In today's Sentinel the Chairman dismisses talk of sacking the Manager. I've heard it all now. PC: denial is not a river that runs through Egypt 😀 Is this a master plan of confidence in the manager? I can only hope he has big funds for the January window whether the manager stays or goes

If Coates had said that the whole thing was very worrying and we were in a relegation scrap and that the manager had to prove himself quickly, then I think he would have made the problem a lot worse. What he says and what he thinks are likely to be somewhat different. He didn't have to say that though either mate. I wouldn't expect him - or any Chairman worth their salt - to say anything like that tbh. But some recognition that the trend and trajectory we have been on is not the right one and that they, as a club, as a team, will do everything they can to reverse it. What he HAS come out and said is head in the sand stuff. You'd have thought that, after the not insignificant events of 20 years ago, he would have learnt that publicly not recognising or acknowledging the concerns of the wider fanbase isn't really a wise thing to do, especially if you're seeking to win people over and get us all pulling in the same direction. It's quite astonishing actually. His comparison to last year is also futile. After 'gameweek 17' in 16/17 we were 11th, on 21 points, 7 points from the relegation zone, 9 points from bottom, 3 points off of 7th, and with a -5 GD. We all know those stats have worsened in the intervening 12 months (for the record: 15th, on 16 points, 2 points above RZ, 4 points from bottom, 14 points from 7th, a -17 GD, and the most number of goals conceded to boot). Things HAVE to improve, and the quicker the better. He should acknowledge that fact, and loudly, to reassure. His quote does nothing of the sort I'm afraid. This 'we'll be fine' attitude will be our undoing if we're not careful.

We need to ensure Coates knows on Saturday that his only option is to get rid of Hughes... His time should have come to an end 6 months ago
