Tough game Tuesday night. One of those grounds i've visited many times and mixed memories. The best has to be Graham Shaw scoring that stunner in a 0-2 win in our promotion season.Actually been travelling upto Burnley twice and heard the game had been postponed,Cup game in the early 90's when the snow was so bad i don't know why i even tried, never got further than Leek and then the league game a few years ago when i parked up at Turf Moor and it had been called off.Interested to hear views of Stokie's who were there for the late 70's cup tie.

Quite a few less than marvellous memories of Turf Moor including ducking down narrow streets to escape the ever so friendly natives but way at the top of the list is the infamous Mr McNally. Nearly gave up watching football that day such was the sense of injustice. However , much as in these days, it was only Stoke being diddled so nobody cared.

The day Dennis Smith and Ray Evans sent off. I think the same game as we lost 1-0 to a late penalty possibly Billy Hamilton or the Steve Kindon bullet shot.
Then with minutes left several thousands Stoke fans from the Longside invaded the pitch and the Burnley fans ran out of their ends Bee Hole and Long side.

Remember that cup tie in the 90's, horrendous snow. Me and a mate walked from Longton to the Vic to get on the coaches to be told it was off. We lost the rearranged game either 1-0 or 2-0 (can't remember)... Pretty sure the draw had already taken place for the next round aswell, and had we won we would have played Arsenal ( I think).

Was my first away game, 74-75 season, last match, when there used to be a segregated terrace on one side.
Once copper with an Alsatian had complete control over the segregation!

I went Turf Moor in the hope of seeing Sammy Bangoura break the record for scoring in consecutive games. He didn't and we lost, think it was Akinbiyi who scored which was a kick in the nuts. The grounds a tip, I remember that much. Oh, Wayne Thomas also got a shed load of abuse when he was warming up.

One of the best visits was the 1-0 win when we had to go behind the opposite as the cricket field stand had wind damage. Duberry's dance after the match and sing along with a few hundred Stokies.

The debut of Tommy Mooney. After a passionate display/running around like a headless chicken he got sent off. As he wandered down the tunnel I shouted to him "Well done Tommy lad". He looked at me like I was an idiot. He was right.
Not sure if that was before or after someone threw a steward down the steps. The old bill were a little heavy handed after the game too as I recall.

Definitely Quitter getting dogs abuse as he walked to be changing room (when it used to be in the away end). Stoke fans virtually hanging off the rails to give him the vitriol he deserved.

I remember going to Turf Moor just after Christmas 1965, they had a centre forward named Willie Irvine who scored a hat trick against his brother Bobby who was in goal for Stoke that day. Unfortunately I was also there when Mr McNally ‘made a name for himself’ in the FA Cup game.

I remember going in the very early 70s. It was a miserable windy day with sleet blowing horizontally off the moors, and one side of the ground was a building site because they were putting up a new stand. No idea what the score was.

I think he was substituted and took too long to go off the pitch so the ref sent him off, could be wrong though. Another game at TM I remember was when Paul Randall scored his first goal for us. I think we won 2-0 or 3-0 That would be late 70s or so

I bought a pie and peas, and the peas were actually inside the pie.
That surpasses anything I've seen on the turf moor pitch, although the time we binaried them with an akinbiyi goal (on Boxing Day I think) runs it close.
