Thought he was no worse than anyone else. Spurs,as usual, went straight through the middle of our defence.
His positioning seemed fine,he put a good cross in.
Can't say any more about his performance.
Need to see more of him.

It's very strange that he has put him in for games against Man City and Tottenham and yet has not played him against the so called lesser teams

I want him to be brilliant. Hell, we need a right back. Let's be honest though...at this moment in time, he's nowhere near good enough He isn't, but there's absolutely no need to be slaughtering the lad on here like you have. I'm not slaughtering him. I'm commenting on his performance yesterday. It is very difficult to say "His performance was pitiful" politely.

He's an eighteen-year-old kid making his second appearance, Dave not some hardened veteran. I know you like to play 'Mr Controversial' on here, but for fuck's sake...it really isn't difficult for most people to acknowledge that Edwards played poorly without completely slagging him off.

You must be mistaking me for someone else. Like to be controversial? Does it matter how young he is? Look at Kenny at Everton. Young lad, same position, bollocking senior pro's for going through the motions. Plays in a Merseyside derby and is arguably everton's best player. He tackles. He competes. He wants it. Edwards has been nothing like that. He's shown absolutely nothing. I don't feel sorry for him. I'm embarrassed for him more than anything else.

He played like an 18 year old making his 2nd ever premier league start, against one of the best attacking teams around, after not playing as much as a single second for the team since near as damn it 2 months ago when he was hauled off in his debut against arguably the best attacking team in the league.

How can he have only found out on Friday that he was playing the next day?Surely you set the team out at the start of the week that’ll be playing the following weekend and work on shape?

Seems to me Hughes has been told to bring youngsters through which he didn’t agree with. As if to prove a point he’s thrown him into games where he may well look out of his depth.
Been here before with other managers if I remember correctly...

Theres no other logical sense behind it.

I think that comment from him speaks volumes about Hughes.
I don't think for a minute that the kid is lying.

It sure does Paul and I just can’t fathom out why any manager worth his salt would do that

I guess the key part in the question is the bit about being 'worth his salt'.
He's clearly completely lost the plot and has done for some considerable time now.

I don't feel sorry for him in the slightest. He's a professional footballer who should be desperate to make an impact. He's weak, he doesn't track or spot runners off the back of him and he's been heavily involved in every goal the team has conceded whilst he's been on the pitch. It's a harsh truth but right now he's a million miles away from being good enough. Think back to Andy Griffin and his debut as a 17 year old. Edwards is nowhere near that level. Sadli I have to agree with u and spot on with your analysis. He is good enough or not good enough, and To suggest we pick him just for easier games is ludicrous. We drop a player after playing well, then bring in Edwards for an easier game, total bollocks. The facts are we cannot attract the elite, the big guns get them.Cheas have 25 players out on loan.

I hope he gets played against Burnley so we can actually judge how good he is, he's had to defend one on one with two out and out speed merchants in Sane and Son and had no help from Shaq. Burnley ??? Who r 7th, easy game???

He has talent, but he's not ready. Especially against the arguably the two best attacking teams in the league, and with a right midfielder that has no interest in helping defend in front of him.

Baptism of fire for Eddo. But banishing him could destroy his confidence. Man management skills required from Mark.

Cameron was sub, probably cos he hasnt played for months, but i agree if he had played cameron then a back 4 would have been ok too. We cant say give the kiddies a chance then in the same breath, only play them against the lesser sides, good enough or not good enough, and i didnt see one bit of a player who has a premier league future. I realy hope i am wrong.

Edwards has been hung out to dry in my opinion. Two very tough games against two of the best teams in the league, and we've been battered in both.

Hughes strategy is clearly to play his strongest team against the lower teams to get 3 points but hasn’t thought it through as we have been hammered and embarrassed by the top teams .

Cameron at right back against Burnley and bring in Afellay as a third midfielder alongside Fletcher and Allen. This will enable Fletcher to occupy a smaller central area with the other two having more 'legs'. Diouf, Shaq and Choupo up front, although Choups looked as bad as anyone on Saturday. Is Jese available to sit on the bench and offer us an option?

I've seen nothing at all to suggest he's going to be good enough. In all fairness, I don't mean to be harsh on the kid but he looks like the championship would be a level too high for him.

he played as well as could be expected against the MOM with practically no cover in front of him. Non of the other players bathed themselves in glory. Fletcher for example was non existent. IMHO we must persevere with the younger players. Chopper did very little also and should have been replaced by Ramadan at half time. The team management is largely the problem, Mr Coates has to see that surely.

And what exactly are you basing this on? 2 starts away against Man City and Spurs? Two starts where he literally hasn't done a single thing right plus I thought he looked poor preseason. He's poor from a positional perspective, he doesn't block the cross, gets turned inside and out. Doesn't seem capable of making a decent tackle, his decision making has been poor, and he gets caught in possession. Son literally couldn't believe his luck at how much time and space he was given at times. He's good at showing a winger down the line, but then doesn't put a foot in meaning the winger can take his time, come inside and pick whatever cross he wants. This was shown yesterday. Hopefully there will be a decent player in there somewhere, I know everybody seems to be pining for another local Wilko type. But I honestly cannot see him making league one if I'm completely honest.
