There's more! Stoke City manager Mark Hughes speaking to the media: "I thought the lads were fantastic and matched everything Burnley threw at us. I thought when we were able to get the ball down, we were the team trying to create openings in wide areas and get good balls in." (on the goal) "Another long ball goes into our box and it drops fortunately for the lad. It's hard to take, Burnley didn't deserve to win, clearly. I'm pleased with what we produced tonight. We felt the loss of Kurt Zouma. If we'd have kept Ryan and Kurt they'd have dealt with that situation. "We've got a big game at the weekend now, we need more of the same and maybe a bit of luck. In the end they've got the break that their endeavor and determination deserves I suppose. At the moment the luck is going for them and they were fortunate today. The result isn't what we wanted. We wanted to get a positive result. We need a little bit of fortune to go our way." So is he effectively saying Wimmer is wank ?

We used to laugh at managers' excuses like that under Pulis, whilst we ran away with 3 points (apart from away from home..... where we lost...... every time....)

Can someone just ask him why the hell he took Shaq off?
Burnley went up a gear and moved the extra man forward after Shaq went off. Defies comprehension...
RULE NUMBER ONE: NEVER TAKE YOUR BEST PLAYER OFF IF THE GAME IS THERE TO BE WON (unless he’s injured, playing utter shite, or on the verge of a red card- Shaq was not in any of these categories at all)
Hughes did a reckless gamble and it’ll cost him his job.

This team shows a lot of promise if we just had a midfielder (ideally 2) who have any creativity or strength about them. A bit of both or one of each type would do. We have a woeful midfield to select from.

How did we throw that away. Attack is the best form of defence but we don't have the nouse to work even that basic out.

I know he has to be positive but that's garbage there keeper didn't need to make any proper saves. The best we deserved was a draw. He made sure we didn't get the draw it's his ridiculously late and pointless substitutions; he only used 2 as well, crying out for fresh legs and he stands there like Nero watching Rome burn down.

I use a quote in business all the time. ‘Luck happens when opportunity meets preparation ’ That and the harder you work the luckier you get’
We weren’t prepared by losing Zouma and then taking Shaq off but I can’t fault how hard we worked. Ryan was outstanding tonight but for some reason kept charging up the pitch towards the end which IMO meant he ran out of steam when chasing back and wasn’t close enough to Barnes for the goal.

Having just left Turf Moor i can assure you we are in a relegation fight if we can fight.
We did have more of the game for 70 mins but created very little. Burnley again a dire watch and took/made their only chance and thats football. How have they 31 pts.
Poor old Shawcross seemed to have to defend and lead the attack and also go down the left wing as Ramadan was an embarassment.
Hughes needs a major change and luck to get this lot going as the squad looks weak.

There are no words to describe how low most Stoke fans are feeling.
Most already realise our squad of players are at best average with a few sparkles sprinkled in, well those without rose tinted spectacles and a TP agenda.
A manager that brought us a refreshing style of football , re-branding us from a Rugby team to Stokealona has lost his way for the last 18 months both on the pitch with poor formations, stupid substitutions laced with denial as to the seriousness of the situation. Off the pitch abysmal signings fallouts with parting defenders and attackers who's arguments now seem to be being validated add to the bad feelings.
From the chairman down the whole club feels like someone has farted in the lift and no one wants to admit it or point the finger of blame. I'm not sure that would save us anyway to be honest.
I don't think you can point a finger in one persons direction, it's the whole lot of them. Owners down to the youth team none of them can be proud of the efort that is going on at the club.
A new manager alone will not mend all that is wrong, he/she can't walk in and demand £100 million for January and make a list of players, staff, transfer team that need to leave. It has to be a change of direction from the top as the single most damaging thing that is killing our club is the old fashiond idea that a club can be self sufficient when it has not built a foundation anywhere near big enough.
Your club, your decision Peter Coates, frankly It doesn't make much difference to me or I'm sure many more, we support the club where we are born be that in the prem or the conference. You on the other hand have some say in what happens so I ask you just be honest when you speak in the paper , no more bullshit about self sufficiency or strongest squad ever when what you mean is NO MORE MONEY. Tell it like it is, this is Stoke we're used to the shit end of the sandwich.
Dear Santa we need a new manager with a January budget capable of salvaging this season along with the power to off load the bad signings at a loss without being self bloody sufficient that is a goal for a successful club not one in shit street. He/She must be capable of bonding with the people of Stoke and realising that they demand fight and effort as a minimum. PS it would be nice if they knew something about football too.
A longer post than I wanted but you just can't say all that's wrong in a one liner.

I have a major dilemma tomorrow afternoon because supposed to be a surprisingly nice day for mid-December. So I can either play golf or watch the match. Both are fairly masochistic activities these days, but I I think I’ll go golfing because I’ll get some exercise. I followed my heart instead my head and watched the game. Note to self: don’t make the same mistake on Saturday if the weather is nice.

No amount of money could persuade me to work for an idiot when I have other options.

I’d be amazed if all the unemployed managers that are looking for a new challenge (as opposed to those on the beach) aren’t evaluating every struggling team in the PL and developing a proposal to put to the board in the event they are approached. Otherwise, they would have no chance of developing a plan to save the team from relegation. There isn’t enough time left if they wait until they are in place.

We've lost control of this game Fletcher is doing absolutely nothing for us. He's finished at this level isn't he? I'm not sure about that. At the start of the season he was one of our best players, he looked really good but since that he looks awful. I think he's still a good player but he looks shattered he just can't play two 90 mins in a week. He needs a rest but unfortunately the man who needs to give him a rest is now playing at RB because we don't have one.

We don't do last minute equalisers we only concede in the last few minutes I know mate .. supporting Stoke's gone from being a roller coaster to more like a helter skelter. That fabled '18 months' will be 2 years soon! I think I'll just stick to hoping for world peace.

Zouey and Shawcy were a fine combo to night as well. Butlins, Camshaft, Shortbread, Zoomorph, Pizza face, Great Shakes, Alien, Porridge, Ramraid, Duffel coat, Crotchety. Grunty, Bera who knows, Teddy bear, Vimto, Eric cheapo motor. Mark 'Sparked Out' Hughes and Peter Coat o' cheap paint.

There is a lot of talk about Shaquiri on here. Sticking my head out a bit here but I can see why he was subbed. His head had gone, he was giving the ball away (a lot), not effective at winning the ball, throwing himself about, arm waving, arguing with the ref, pulling his face and at one stage he was kicking the ground in frustration. For me he had to come off. I'm not defending Hughes, but in my opinion Shaquiri was not our best player (Zouma was)
