Colossal anti-climax after the semi imho, the day was great (well at least the build-up,) but the game itself was poor,(should've known the roundabout being closed off was an ominous portent!) I've never watched any 'highlights' of the game and probably never will...

Such a let down particularly after the wonderful semi against Bolton. I didn’t stay for any of the presentations as soon as the final whistle went I was out of there. I know we were missing Matty but he wasn’t the only player to go missing. Such an anti climax ☹️

I have to say Pulis delivered the greatest ever achievement in my lifetime and I was at the 1972 final

I am with other posters on here in that I have never watched any highlights of the final. I didn't leave the ground immediately after the final whistle as I happened to be in a hospitality area but I couldn't bring myself to watch them trudge up those stairs having lost and I certainly wasn't going to watch Man City pick up the trophy. Others in the hospitality area had come a long way for this and would probably not watch Stoke live again for several years (if ever). Understandable, I suppose, that they wanted to capture everything. I had flown in from Bangkok but (a) I generally get to see Stoke in the flesh once a season and (b) I still believe we can do it again in my lifetime - only 20-30yrs left for me realistically and (c) I was just too choked at losing that I couldn't bear to watch others celebrating/enjoying the occasion...still am!

Fifth time at Wembley with Stoke, never seen them lose until that day.
Every time somebody said to me in the following days that it was a shame but must have been a 'wonderful day' my answer was the same; "Fuck off, it was the most miserable day of my Stoke life"!!!

Still gutted! The game was there for the taking, Man City had an off day and we didn't take advantage. Had we gone into the game with the same mentality as the semi we've had taken it... instead we reverted to type and tried not to lose...

Had we gone into the game with the same mentality as the semi we've had taken it... instead we reverted to type and tried not to lose... I don't remember them having an off day. They were all over us in the first half. Sorensen pulled off a great save from Balotelli (?), Villa lifted one over an empty net, several other chances to be 3 or 4 to the good in the opening 30 minutes. We were better in the second half, Pulis no doubt ripped them a new one at half time, but even so, 1-0 didn't really reflect the balance of the game. Spoken to a few neutrals after it and they had the same opinion that we were just never in it. I can live with that, disappointing as it is, what pisses me off most is that we were missing three of our most influential players in Ric, and barely fit Huth and Etherington. With them, especially Ric, it might have been different?

I don't think we could take advantage with what we had available

One or two key players were carrying injuries but prob. insisted they were fine not wanting to miss this historic game. I remember seeing Man City warming up with about a squad of 20 on the pitch all doing high tempo quickfire passing + moving in groups of three or four and the groups were constantly interchanging, it looked slick choreographed and years ahead of what we were capable of at the time. As other posters have said: heroics from Sorensen kept us in the game and some players just looked shattered after a long season. I can understand why Liverpool and Man City are calling for a return to neutral semi final venues to keep the magic of the Wembley final alive. I think that because the Bolton result was so epic it kind of took a bit of the gloss away from the final? Maybe that’s just my perception but that’s how I saw it.

Robbed by the richest club in the world cooking the books and ignoring FFP over 10 years!! linkIt was an amazing day out for the club, the fans and players but these revelations leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Sadly, it is very likely that nothing will happen but I will keep my fingers crossed for the 0.0000001% chance that justice prevails!

I was that upset that we lost, once I got home, I put the top I wore, official program, morning newspaper articles, ticket snubs etc in the cupboard under the stairs. To this day I've never opened that drawer.

Had we gone into the game with the same mentality as the semi we've had taken it... instead we reverted to type and tried not to lose... Pennant, Jones and Walters were all carrying injuries, Etherington was way off the pace, seems to remember Walters had to have oxygen at half time he said once. If we'd had anywhere near out first team then chances are we'd have won, Danny H and Fuller of course also. Didn't help that the game was players a week early due to the CL. The Arse game the week before didn't help either Ever watched any of the game again
