He's not going to be given a chance is he? He could win his first 10 games then when he loses the 11th the knives will be out in force. No, that wouldn't happen.

The Irish Independent reported in the early hours MON had turned us down on Friday. There’s no reason to suggest he’s changed his mind. He’s already verbally agreed to remain with ROI. I’ve never seen him in press reports change his mind once it’s made. Need Plan D then if you're right. Gulp.

I’ve never seen him in press reports change his mind once it’s made. We didn't offer him the job till yesterday afternoon according to the press so how did he turn us down on Friday? Also why nothing from him distancing him from the job? Maybe him and Keane are mulling over it.

I have my reservations but the amount of foot stamping and screaming going on is pretty pathetic, from posters who I thought were better i.e. Not the usual spunk trumpets. There's no such thing as clean slates on here.

There's no such thing as clean slates on here. I can only speak for myself but i'm frustrated that we have no middle ground option. I actually think he has enough about him to keep us up but the mid to longer term prognosis is what i'm bothered about. We've proven that we'll pay big release clauses, will back managers (if the reports are true about backing QSF) yet apparently we've given that up and gone for the easy, 'free transfer' option of O'Neill. Never look a gift horse in the mouth and all that nonsense but 10 years in the league and it boils down to this? It's poor, unimaginative and symptomatic of how the club is starting to be run, looking from the outside in. All i'm after is 6 wins (or 5 wins and 3 draws) and i'll be a happy bunny right now.

We should have approached Rowett with the same package we reportedly offered Flores.

There's not a great deal of managers out there though is there? Even if he's given a 5 year deal, does it matter? Contracts don't mean that much anyway, with a pay off worth probably a quarter of imbula he could be gone. The outside looking in as well, most non stoke fans I have spoken too have said he'd be great for us, a perfect match (probably a backhanded compliment granted). But the backlash after a loss will be 10x greater than anything our previous 2 managers endured, even at a time when we need everyone pulling together.

I honestly don't know what's available to us as i'm not aware of what we are looking for in a manager. Before we went into this I think 90% of people assumed we'd be looking for out of contract managers and British only. QSF changed that horizon so you would assume that this opens the boundaries of our searching quite a bit, hence the disappointment at the speed we have regressed back to an O'Neill type. I've also had the backhanded compliments ("He plays your type of football!" !!) I'd be disappointed if any manager right now would face a backlash given the situation we are in.

Looks like it's ok now anyway 😉 It's now stokes fault we couldn't get such young up and coming manager in O'Neill, he's the bestest manager in the world. Laters.

Can't imagine those players are feeling too good now, literally no manager wants to be associated with them and based on their last 18 months perfomances you can't blame them.
Bet Mark is laughing his head off tonight.
